u see them on the news all the time. e.g. 8 yr olds going to university, 9 year olds getting into Cambridge etc etc

I'll be 25. Gap year, and then 5 year degree.

Maybe by that time, I'll be mature.

25 seems so old.

I'll be 20 - 3 year course :D but hopefully when I finish my first course, I'll be able to get into post-graduate medicine, which is about 4 years I think, so I'll be about 24-25 IF I get into medicine as well afterwards.

so how long does it take before you can actually become a doctor (medical practitioner)? what degrees do you need?

Not necessarily. Looking at an academic career in Classical Studies or Linguistics, possibly moving to Florence to take up further study after I finish uni.

I don't think it's a pity I'm doing arts. I do get 4 day weekends as well.

It varies depending on what you want to specialise in, something like being a G.P is around 4 years I think, while something like Surgery is about 6 or 7 years. You need a B Medicine/B Surgery here in Australia to actually become a doctor, but also you have to go through training in a hospital before you can actually practice medicine privately.
