Just a question, I'm currently in year 11- and I feel like I may not attain the ATAR I need to get into combined law outright at unsw / usyd (because law at any other uni is meh ;) )

What sort of WAM would I need in order to secure a transfer spot in say 2nd year?

thanks in advance

From what I've heard, if you enroll in a major at UNSW, say for example commerce, you only need a credit average to transfer. My guess is, you'd probably need distinction to get in though, since there is a lot of competition. At USYD, you need a distinction and high distinction average to transfer. I don't know if that was any help, but I know jack all about WAM since this is my first year at uni lol.

Also, "because law at any other uni is meh" shows that you need to research a bit more about your desired profession, course and its relation to university. It sounds like you have a really idealistic view of university and more specifically, the law degree. Talk to current, post-grad and actual lawyers and see what they think about law at other universities. You'd be surprised.

If you don't get into usyd or unsw - try ANU. It's ranked the best university in Australia and I hear it has a pretty good law faculty. It was my second preference and I would have been happy to go their had I not gotten into usyd

For UNSW, if you get an ATAR over 97 , you only need a WAM of 70 to be guaranteed transfer into law second year. If you get anything below, you need 75+.

I'm not sure about USYD. But yeah, my advice would be to enrol in a lower course at USYD or UNSW, and try to transfer first year, because in the long run, I think you'll be better off.
