If I had to do an Asian language it'd be Vietnamese - it has a Roman alphabet, thanks to the French. I epic fail at memorising characters.

What kind of history are you doing? I did China 1900-49 and Indochina 1945-79 for HSC Modern History. China was so amazingly boring but Vietnam was really interesting. HO HO HO CHI MINH.

mm i may call .. it wont kill them to have a nag on the phone
Some person on one of the other accom threads said apparently 20 or so people were being sent to Toad, and I expect the rest they'll try and squeeze into residencies and those left over will come to Gardens.

Do we have an actual figure on how many people are 'extras'? The original post said 100, someone else said 300.

Whoa they can actually do that? I guess it makes sense... Just say you were living alone and you had to go and buy like Orange Essence to make a cake - you wouldn't be able to because of those stupid rules they have now!

I really want to do Asian History, but I love all history so it does not bother me too much what I do. It depends on the timetable I think. Plus at the moment I'm being very indecisive about it all.

I did Japan 1910 to 1930 and i did Japan's Empror Hirohito for personality study plus I also did conflict in the Pacific which was pretty much Japan for my yr 12 history and I really loved it! They are so interesting. I would have thought that China was pretty intertesting we briefed a bit on China and I thought it was alright lol

I don't know what it is, like compare China and Vietnam and they're not that different, socialism triumphs over selfish capitalist ruling class and all that. Maybe it's just because I know Ho Chi Minh didn't live long enough to do the sort of crap that Mao did during the Cultural Revolution. China kind of leaves you with "Yay the Communists won!" because really, after studying it you do side with the Communists, but then it's like "oh... wait" when you think about the horror stories that would come in the future. That's not as pronounced when you study Vietnam. One thing that studying both countries does is that it makes you despise the US with the fiery passion of a thousand suns.

I feel for you guys :( I thought that the whole point of having a building to ourselves (Maybe it's meant for UoC students but it's not full?) would be that all of us could be together, not spread out across Toad/Motels/Uni Gardens.

Nah, I meant that there'll be some people in it at UoC (it says entirely for students, not ANU students specifically) but that's a super lame university and I don't think many people would be coming from outside just to go there, so ANU has probably beggared the extra rooms off of UoC, which would explain why the 'ANU community numbers 108' because the building looks like it can hold more than that. It may not be entirely for ANU students.
