lol how do u know u don't have any viruses? a trojan not necessarily damage ur comp but rather records wat u did and sends it back to the hacker. so even if u did get a trojan, u wouldn't able tell until one day u found out that ur bank account is missing a couple thousand dollars. so just continue on without an anti-virus program and we'll see what happens in the future. o yea and even websites that are normally considered safe aren't that safe eg. google. u might want to know how many times google got hacked and if the hacker decides to put a virus then ur screwdI dont have an antivirus and I dont get any viruses.
I'd agree that it is a bit of a resource hog.NOT Norton.
True, but McAfee is definitely even more of a resource hog so I think Norton works for meI'd agree that it is a bit of a resource hog.

At OP: if by downloadable you mean free I think you should consider paid antivirus if you download much 'cause the protection is definitely worth a few extra bucks But if you really can't be bothered I think AVG Free Antivirus is O.K and demos for software that costs money after the trial period.
lolwut we have ourselves a new snowfoxso get a Mac, the most insecure system around.
No actually, Norton is worse. For boot delay, Norton is the worst by FAR. What Really Slows Windows Down - ThePCSpy.comTrue, but McAfee is definitely even more of a resource hog so I think Norton works for me
Eh?lolwut we have ourselves a new snowfox
No it does not. It let my school down. A USB virus infected all the school computers and Norton did not detect it. The problem was not known until some people started complaining that their USBs had viruses after using them on the school computers.symantec antivirus seems to do an ok job. microsoft forefront client security is rather good too
That's entirely wrong. The default user account settings require a password dialogue or sudo command before you make any system wide changes, the same way you would when running as a non root user in Linux. Further, the 10.5-10.6 kernels have both been unix certified (which Linux is not). Any Linux OS comes with far more preinstalled software than OSX does, and any windows PC from the common vendors comes flooded with insecure crapware and (perhaps more critically) Internet Explorer. Finally the fact that you think Photoshop works seamlessly on OS X shows you're completely oblivious to Adobe's retarded development process, and the idea that nothing else does shows you've never actually used a Mac.It is. They never have any protection, people who run them generally have no idea wtf they are talking about so thus are more likely to run with Admin privileges, the kernal despite being based on Unix is not Unix and thus isn't a secure as you macfags like to think it is. And seriously you can't run anything that doesn't have problems with it except Photoshop. Also do you really need all that crap that opens up holes in your security installed by default?
