im against university spending, but at least universities are a way in which we can equip with the skills to create wealth, and hence they will pay tax. this tax is more money than the government will ever give an individual at university, so you're getting a net return
church funding is giving money to people to essentially make them happy, without being an investment

Firstly, your missing my point. I believe as strongly, perhaps stronger, that education is neccessary for the thriving of society. However, others may view not so, and yet they still do pay taxes.
Secondly, you stated your against taxpayers funding happiness without return/ just generally. Do realise, Church goers pay taxes as well. And the funding to Churches is significantly less then those given to other priorities of country. Using statistics, as I already argued above, it is imporportional, the amount a Church recieves, and the amounts its people pay tax.
Thirdly, HAPPINES, even for people that are not TAXPAYER, (ironically, sounds like many uni sutdents i know, hmm) are important for society. It enoucrages growth.
