What's a nice, relatively affordable/cheap Digital SLR camera you would recommend ?

Pentax K-x, currently the best bang for buck camera. Has image stablisation in body, shoots video, frame rate is 4.7 fps.

Bit of a late reply... but,

IMO the Nikon D3000 is the best value for money as a Digital SLR Camera. The image quality is one of the best in the entry level DSLR's. I just bought one myself... it's AWESOME. The pictures are very sharp, the colours are amazing and it's just all-round TOO GOOD.

Took this one just today

for amateurs nikon d90 because it has hd record and in bult image stabiliser. only amateurs like that shit though. though imo nikon has a bad lens collection.
canon 450d maybe, but nikon better fps i'm pretty sure

also pentax k20d, exceptional value. 15mp, fps5. something, weather resistant, cheap good weather resistant lens, interface subpar. they don't sell them anymore but some stores might still have some, they were very cheap rrp, they'll be even cheaper now.

and only buy at ted's, they know a bit more than any domian/harvey norman/jb hifi.
