Has anyone ever had or known of a teacher qualified in both history and legal studies (1 Viewer)

Hey,
I want to become qualified to teach history and legal studies.
I have been told you can be and there are courses avaliable for this but I have never actually had or known of a teacher qualified in both these subject areas.

In your time at school have any of you ever come across a teacher qualified in legal and history?

Yes, if I remember correctly all the legal studies teachers at my school were history teachers. It's part of the same department.

i think it is so pathetic as to the lack of subjects combination there are for teaching

i think if you want to teach maths and english you should be able too but in the current system you can't

no wonder there is a shortage of teachers

I also think it sucks that you can't teach 3 subjects!

i had a teacher who taught music, junior maths, junior science, english std, adv, ext1 and ext2, history extension, legal studies, economics, modern, ancient, french, beginners, continuers, extension, agriculture, visual arts, drama and dance.

no she really did teach all of that. not all at once, but in her entire career as a teacher. she's been a teacher for maybe 30 years? i had her for all my subjects except for 4 unit maths

Yes, most definately. My teacher was a History teacher and Legal Studies teacher now shes a SOR teacher ahah She's a hella great teacher too! =)

hahaha no, she was just awesome. but she does dress like a witch, and her husband who is also a teacher at my school (only casual now though) looks like a wizard

Really? Why do people always harp on about what to study because there are some specialisations that need more teachers compared to others. Subjects like English and Maths I've heard are where more teachers are needed.

Surely they would at least consider what you've studied before giving you a job?

Yeah, I have heard of this too, but just to be sure I want to study what I want to teach.
