law transfer for macquarie university (1 Viewer)

I've just got a question, I received a UAI of 85.35 for the 2008 HSC and I'm currently enrolled in UWS' Bachelor of Business and Commerce/Bachelor of Laws.
I was wondering how difficult it would be for me to transfer to the same degree in Macquarie if I achieved a GPA of 5.5.
Also my interest was piqued by this tidbit on macquarie's website:

So would it be possible in this way to have UAC exclusively focus on just my tertiary performance and ignore my UAI results?

Yes, I did it. Just make sure you apply for mid-year admission through UAC.

It would be hard to get into UNSW combined law because they take 50/50 UAI/GPA, but for USyd they take the higher of UAI/GPA. You probably need a GPA above 6.

For USyd, you must have completed 1 year in a university course to transfer. (So if you transfer to MQ after 6 months and then want to transfer again to USyd, you have to spend 1 year at MQ first)

If I do combined b arts-psychology / b laws at UWS how likely is it that i can transfer into Macquarie's combined law course. And how long must i attend UWS before transfering?
I heard from the horses mouth (Law Dept) that generally a UAI of around 90 and a credit average (which at MQ works on a 4 point scale, so 3.0 is a credit average) would be highly competitive and BASICALLY assure entry! Like any course, depends on demand and supply, if not many takers for spots (created by law dropouts/changers) then a lower UAI/GPA or combination would mean more leniency!
I want to transfer from B Arts at USYD to Combined Law at Macquarie but am really unsure if I even have a chance to get in! I did part time in first sem and received a credit and a pass (for an advanced language) and in 2nd sem i got 3 credits and again a pass for an advanced language. my UAI was 86.5. ive read from a few forums that MCQ is not as "selective" as usyd/unsw/uts. any thoughts?? would really appreciate it as im freaking out haha

It has nothing to do with Macquarie; UAC gives you the offer after giving you a Non-Recent/Current School Leavers rank, an NRSL/NCSL rank. Do a search elsewhere on this forum and you should find info on it.
Why? You're either going to get in, or you're not. There's no point worrying about it.
The other option is to transfer to a BA (for example) at Macquarie and transfer internally to a BA LLB. For you to do that, though, you'd need much better marks in your Macquarie BA.
Is our law school even any good? I mean it seems to be very neglected... i always got the perception that it was neglected.. You see other unis and they have a law department and grand buildings.. and then you come to macquarie and you see the little building which will be dwarfed by our new lib.

Its rather underfunded and seldom listens to the concerns of its students.
u have a nice campus
and to be honest law is law. if u really want to do it you would go anywhere.
What are the main concerns ? just curious.

Only if they had the same quota for students. It's supply and demand, remember. Aren't you supposed to know this shit as a business student?
Well it is an accredited course, so /shrug. I personally would never do law at Macquarie, but that's just me. Other people don't really care.

They cut funding all the time, they teach most law subjects with a huge focus on interdiscplinary crap rather than a balance of theory/philosophy/practical elements. The uni doesn't give a crap about the law faculty because its not a source of international students.
Lots of problems, this is why uni rep is crap, the only people who know this are the ppl that go to MQ and yet its rep is better than UWS etc...
No the Uni does care about it, the fault and blame lies squarely with the Law School, all the wounds have been so far self inflicted.
