Stupid question.. do you enroll for your course at uni after you finish the hsc or before hsc? because if you enroll before the hsc, you don't know your results so you don't know if you would get in.. what is the procedure?

Once ATAR's are released an you have an offer, the uni's will probably mail out a package that lets you know either what days you have to go in to enrol in person, or the link to online enrolment.

Don't stress about enrollment, in most cases it will be fairly straightforward, and if its not, then thousands of other people are having the same difficulties as you ;)

Are there always online enrolments or do some unis only offer it to uni in person?

I know that at MQ you have to go in and get academic advice before they let you enroll, so its just easier to do it on the day. You can still do it online but you might get a bit confused. I don't know about UNSW, USYD etc.

enrolment is pretty annoying wherever you are though. if its in person, it'd be pretty annoying to have to line up i imagine. if its online, you only have 3-4 days open and the system is constantly overloaded.

Yeah it's annoying either way. But it was really annoying for me at the start of the year, cause I was transferring, but still doing a really similar course, and still had to go in to do it in person, even though I was already in the system and had my student ID, etc.

i think you guys are selling the online system short.

it can be a pain when you wait 10 minutes for a page to load, but id much rather that than standing in line waiting to be enrolled in person. atleast you can do something else while waiting for a page to load, you can check out the online handbook at the same time or anything else

(and if you really want to get it over with, just log on at 2 am, enroll in 15 minutes)

Also at USyd they don't let you pick your enrolment time. They allocate you to a certain time and tell you you have to be there

wait... is it mid or late january that we enrol? cause that would really suck cause im going overseas and my first preference is at usyd.
You should be able to nominate a proxy rep - someone like a parent or other family member - who can enrol on your behalf. Just make sure you have the right forms filled in beforehand.

you will have to enrol via proxy. its nothing painful, just you sign a letter the uni sends to you when they send the enrolment pack after your offer and it says that person x (a parent, friend, brother etc) is authorised to act on your behalf.

So pick your subjects before you leave and then give them to your proxy who goes to the uni and enrols you into them.

Heaps of people enrol this way as they all take post HSC trips and get back before the start of uni
