I'm only just starting the HSC course, but I missed alot of school/work last year because I was sick...
Anyone got any tips on how to catch up with basic underlying chemistry equations?...(can't really be stuffed backtracking through preliminary coursework though, any better ideas?)

go get a year 11 text book and read it. it is the only way you can know the important stuff. (its going to be a lot of work though) unless you can get an amazing tutor

what you can do it remember the basic reactions such as
metal and acid
acid and base

learn your radicals (co3 ^2-) ect google them

Apart from the mole concept most of year 11 is pretty useless in the HSC.
