QUESTION 20. anybody, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong but i think i'm right here. (maybe).

Lou bought a plasma tv which was priced at 3499. He paid 1000 deposit and got a loan for the balance that was paid off by 24 monthly instalments of 135.36.

What simple interest rate per annum, to the nearest percent, was charged on his loan?

1. So you go 3499-1000 = 2499.
2. Then you go 135.36x24 = 3248.64
3. Then I added the deposit back in; = 4248.64
4. Then i took away the original amount; 4248.64 - 3499 = 749.64
5. Then i divided that by two cause its per annum; = 374.82
6. Then i put that over 3499; 374.82/3499x100 = 10.71%
7. Equals 11% to the nearest percent, aka (A)

BUT im not sure whether i was supposed to add the deposit back in (see line 3).

Anyone else do it like that..?

I had: 749.64 = 2499 x R x 2

R=0.149=15%

Because 2499 is the principle, not 3499... this is because u need to minus the deposit (3499-1000=2499)

1) C

I thought it was mode because eye colour was categorical? But then I thought they could also count the number of eye colours... but only mode stuck... sorry if the exp is vague lol
for 6, it was an unordered selection so you needed to divide 12 by 2 (how many different committees, so i think it was (A)
I got c for 12 and b for 13 (i think i guessed them)

Yeah B was the shaded part wasn't it? (A = (90/360 * 8^2 * pi) - 4 * 4 * 0.5 = 42 = (B)

That test was alright.... and the multiple choice one was unexpectedly difficult. I took the courage to study simple interest again because of that Rate question in multiple choice. i think i got it right u have to subtract P from the deposit. Is 84% a good result for that test
lol hope so... At least you guys took the paper home
We were not allowed. Strict rules. And i think the time for the test is rediculous. More time
I did all the past HSC questions for the exams and i got 95% for 2005 and i got to say that was easier than this year. It wasn't easy and alot of tricky questions.
It could of been better though
lol

I know I got 16 wrong but does anyone disagree with any other MCs?
Apart from your mistake with 16, I made 2 mistakes with 7 and 14..
I agree with every one of your answers EXCEPT i'm not sure on 15? I got A.

EDIT: Damn, just looked through everyone elses answers and they all got D for 15. So if me and you are correct with the rest, you should get 21/22 and i should get 19/22.. Lets hope
