log(a)b + log(a)c = log(a)(bc) = 0.9 + 1.8 = 2.7
log(a)(bc)^2 = 2log(a)(bc) = 2 x 2.7 = 5.4

I hope I remembered my log rules correctly ._.

Ok whats 2^x = y in logorithm form?
log(2)y = x 2 is base.

New Question:

A man deposits $10000 into his bank account. The money earns a compound interest of 2% per quarter. Find the amount of money after 2 years.

2^x = y

log(2)y = x

If log(2)N = 4, find the value of log(0.5)N.

Bah ninja'd, I went to get an exam paper because I couldn't think of a question.

A = P(1+r)^n

A = 10000(1+2%)^8

A = 11716.59381.

log(2)N = 4

N = 16.

log(0.5)16 = ln16/ln0.5 (change of base)

log(0.5)N = -4.

My question now :) (Refer to 2 posts above)

Done :D

Was I right? You were.

Find the gradient of the line whose x and y intercepts are 2 and 4 respectively.

Yep you were right too, hi five!

(2,0), (0,4)

m = 4/-2

m = -2

Find the equation of the line passing through point (1,4) and is parallel to the line y - x + 234234 = 0

y = x - 234234, therfore gradient = 1

(y-4)/(x-1) = 1
y-4 = x-1

y = x+3
x-y+3 = 0

wtfx why does everyone skip my question :(

Fine I'll do this one, but then you guys HAVE to do my one

26250 - 5000 = 21250

21250 x $0.30 = $6375

Now my question!

List and describe the types of Aid that Australia provides to needy countries.

humaniterian aid-in the form of HR,food,shelter and medical supplies and personal.These types of assistence are usually delivered by Ngo's working at ground level in tandem with federal governmets and local authorities.humaniterian aid is particualry delivered as a result of concern for the status quo and often during natural disasters.

FDI(fderal developmental assaaistence)-basically charity for developing nations to be allocated to various programs such as infrastructure projects,security, medical and government reform.

thats all i can remember frankly,if i left something out please note it

His questions are based on the 5.3 syllabus, the SC is based on 5.1 or general.

Huh...?

Answer is...

Bilateral Aid
Government gives money directly to the other country's government.

Multilateral Aid
Government supports and funds organisations that help aid needy countries.

Non-governent Aid
Aid that is not related to the government, as the name suggests.

._.

Lets not leave unanswered questions as this inhibits the purpose of this thread.

simon pays 30c tax for every $1 he earns above $5000.if he earns $26,250 how much tax will he pay?
amount over $5000= 26250-5000= $21250
tax= $0.3 * 21250 = $6,375
Read, Understand, Apply.

1st Question:
A coin is tossed and a standard die rolled. What is the probability of obtaining a head and a number less than 5?
P(Head AND number <5) = 4/12 (h1, h2, h3, h4) = 1/3

Question. (Taken from Amogh, lets start.)
Find the difference between the sum of all even numbers and the sum of all odd numbers, between 1 and 100.
i think people are over this
the answer is 50 if you're wondering
(2+4+...98)-(1+3+....99)=1+1+1....=1*50=50

Question:
Outline the various policies used by the government in context to Aboriginals.

mm policies

so

protection: segregation of Aboriginals from the white community to protect them from 'disease' and other crap. It kept them safe from white settlers but they lost their rights and their land.

assimilation: from 1937, aboriginals were expected to become a part of the white community and give up their ties to their own culture, it aimed to destroy (for lack of better term) the Aboriginals.

integration: from late 1950's iirc, aboriginals were still expected to become part of white culture but they were allowed to retain parts of their culture.

self-determination: from 1970's, Aboriginals now given the right to do whatever they wanted.

going completely off memory here so probably some stuff wrong

The various policies used by the government in concerning Aboriginals,have been more detrimental than benefitial and however some policies intented to do some good,the overwhelming majority of them have failed and as a result have been subsequenttly abolished over the sands of time.

first it was the paternalistic protection policy which left aborigies placed on reserves were many if not all aspects of their lives were controlled by reserve managers.which included their work,rations and even had the power over their marital arrangements.

Assimialti0n followed the (policy shown above) which not only was a complete disaster but also resulted in what is know commonly known as the stolen generations which have made a destructive impact for these people.effects such as loss of identity and major social problems,such as high rates of crime and alcoholism.

finally the policy of assimilation was overshadowed by the freedom rides which showed that aboriginies could stand up for themselves but more importantly had sparked discussion and stirred up debate which in part led to the 1967 referendum.
