im thinking of taking business studies, for yr 11, and i just wanted to know more about the syllabus and why some of you guys chose it. and what makes it interesting and will it help for later life

To be honest, I chose it because it's easy. My teacher says this all the time, that Business Studies is a relatively easy course, and apparently it's pretty easy to get a Band 6 in. I chose business studies mainly because I thought my other subjects were already high scaling and I wanted a subject which I didn;t have to work as hard.

Also, Business Studies is like an extension of Year 9 & 10 Commerce. So if you liked Commerce, you'll like business.

i chose it to make up 12 units XD it was a crap line... foodtech, metal and engineering were my other options
but yea it is relatively easy... should be fun with a good teacher too

I chose it because aspects of business are largely prevalent in everyday life, so it would be good to know how they operate. Plus, nothing else on that line really suited me.

I done it because it was interesting, but fairly general. It covers lots of different areas of business, which was ideal for me cos I didnt know what I wanted to do later in life and wanted to see a lot of different parts of business to give me ideas. After business study, I could if I wanted to, specialise later in my education. Maybe do accounting, or marketing at university level.

I wanted to do either business of economics and in the end I chose business because I heard that economics is harder lol. I do think business is a worthwhile subject though. Case studies are extremely interesting.

please dont choose it unless you enjoyed year 9-10 commerce. its mind numbingly boring and scales shit. its about like, marketing, employment, debt and equity and finance, managing change, managing employees, human resources and global business and stuff like that.

the best thing i ever got out of it was a trip to luna park in year 11.

Most asians don't do business studies. They do 4u + phys + chem and maybe eco.

Yep. I chose it cos I've always had a fascination in business, not so much the economy though. O yeh, and despite my interest in science, someday I'd like to enter the business world. The subject can be really useful imo.

Oh yeh and I should admit, I hate the ethical and legal parts of business though.

And yerh business studies is really easy, just a bunch of basic terminology and the concepts arent to hard to grasp either. If you enjoy reading random stuff about QANTAS... you'll LOVE business studies.

Never regretted that. Currently my 2nd best subject, but most enjoyable.

i chose it because the business world has always had some sort of an appeal to me. Hey it doesnt scale well but it is my most favourite subject =]. check out the past hsc exams and dl some of the notes on this site to see the content.. good luck with ur choice!

Only because we had a crappy subject on the same line and Business was the only option I could opt for.

But considering I've already finished the syllabus, it's a pretty good subject, perhaps useful too, in many ways.
