That doesn't seem to refute the previous sentence at all. That's a copy/paste job from a biblical site which does not provide evidence for your argument.

You will also find many branches of the church using that exact passage to support the view that women SHOULDN'T be allowed to preach.

9I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

yes well today would be mini-skirts, fishnets and the sorts
Yes, that is all fair enough, but what do you have to say about the verse in which it is said women may not teach?

edit:
1 Timothy 2:11-12 (New International Version)

11A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.

I already have a firmly established position on the church, thank you, and apparently a better knowledge of the bible than many christians.

Personally, do you believe women should be permitted to preach?

of course.

in my opinion women have almost equal standing to men.

Ephesians 5
Wives and Husbands

22Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. 25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26to make her holy, cleansing[b] her by the washing with water through the word, 27and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— 30for we are members of his body. 31"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh."[c] 32This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

if you look at the articles above, Christ 'ratically' changed the position of women by breaking old testament law (hebrew law).

"Almost" equal standing, hey, lol?

I'm sorry, but even with Jesus' radical changes, the New Testament is still profoundly sexist.

I could go on for hours about this, I thoroughly researched the issue before I stopped being a Christian. But yeah, I can't be bothered to type right now, and you will just counter me with other people's explanations from the internet.

so what was it that made you stop being a christian?

how long were you a christian?

feel free to pm if you want.

edit: you are probably aware of this,
but i thought i'd go through it

the new testament is composed of 27 books,

the first 4 are the gospels, matthew, mark, luke and john
then there's Acts which is a sort of recount of the early 'church (what happened after Jesus went to heaven, what the apostles did)
following those are the letters sent mostly by paul to other 'churches' throughout asia minor, middle east, europe etc

now the book of corinthians was the letters paul sent to the corinthian church

If we're talking bible quotes, then this the best one (don't care if it's not real):

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."

1) No matter how much your girlfriend say's she loves you, a lot of times she will have no problem lying to you and screwing you over. Therefore, my advice would be to not take relationships to seriously until you are older, because if you do, you will get hurt.

2) No matter how honest a girl seems she is more then likely a liar.

3) Never date girls that have been diaignosed with chemical imbalances or depression/ and or bipolar. Girls like that can never be truely happy. They have a lot of ups and downs, they get mad and flip out over little things that normal people don't get mad about. Even when things seem good in the relationship, the girl could be uphappy. When the girl is unhappy she will seek the comfort of other men. Girls like this usually have self distructive personallites, meaning when things seem perfect, she will do something to totally ruin the relationship.

4) Once a cheater always a cheater. I've always believed that it takes a certain kind of person to be able to cheat on somebody and not feel bad about it. In my experience people like this never change. I understand that people get intoxicated and do things they normally woundn't do, and then feel terrible after they sober up. That isn't the kind of person that I'm talking about. People do stupid things when they are under the influence. I'm talking about the girls who cheat on there boyfriends while sober and never feel bad enough to stop cheating on them or tell them they cheated on them. Therefore, whenever dating someone new, always ask if they have cheated on a boyfriend. If they admitt to it, which a lot of times they will, don't start a relationship with them, no matter how much they say they will never cheat on a boyfriend again, or how bad they felt about it, they will always do it again when the situation presents itself.

5) The most important thing in a relationship is trust. Once that is broken there is nothing left. Futhermore, staying in a relationship where there isn't trust will drive you crazy, you will always be wondering what your girlfriend is doing and if she is being honest with you.

6) If you find out your girlfriend has lied to you about one thing, then it is very likely that she is also lieing to you about a lot of things.

7) Just because a girl goes to church, doesn't mean she is a good honest person. I'm a christian myself, and I have met way more girls who are honest, and have good morals outside of the church, then I have in the church. Many christian girls do bad things during the week, and then they think all will be forgiven on Sunday when they go to church.

Hopefully you will learn from my mistakes.

Be very careful with who you trust. Rule of thumb, don't trust anyone except close family. For instance, parents and siblings. But, for some people, even that is risky.
