i hate christian music.
i hate christian music.
heres a good piece of music abt christiansanyone into christian music?
The Bible explains that by lifting your hands you are acknowledging Christ, so when you see people doing that then that is the way they are choosing to acknowledge / worship / whatever Christ. By calling the people that choose to express themselves in that way pretentious douchebags in fact just makes you the pretentious douchebag with the added bonus of being completely ignorant and bigoted. No, christian music is one of the main reasons i don't like christians
Every video the crowd stands there with their eyes shut and hands up like pretentious douchebags, im tremendously sorry if i've offended anyone, but i just don't like it
Religion should stay out of songs and movies (passion of the christ)
And that's exactly it. The only person not standing is the hillsong fan who was cursed by God at birth and born with a bone deficiency, making them unable to stand.Daipire said:Every video the crowd stands there with their eyes shut and hands up like pretentious douchebags
Hmmm, christian music. Let's see.
I dislike Christian music on two levels.
As music, without looking at the message behind everything, every single song sounds the same. It's all just acoustic bullshit with the same lyrics, then the electric guitars come in and play similar riffs. ALL of hillsong's work is identical. The only good song is 'jesus is a friend of mine' and not because I believe in it, but because its quite hilarious and makes me rofl.
Then, when I do consider the message behind the music, it's obviously not making me want to consider christianity any more than any other influence. I agree with Daipire, who said:

Nothing about that kind of music makes me feel good at all. If god exists, he would strike down anyone who listens to it with a loud "turn that shit off".
I only reference Hillsong because if I was to make a list of all the christian music that sounds the same and that I dislike, my bitrate would exceed my required amount and i'd get a very large optus bill.Arctopus said:Your entire argument is invalid in that you claim to dislike Christian music but can only make reference to Hillsong; the Christian music that even Christians know sounds the same.
Thus why it makes glass shatter and my ears bleed, whether I pay attention to the lyrics or not.Arctopus said:The idea of Christian music is for the adherents to put their focus on God and not on the instrumental content.
So then why does it make it any more appeasing to christians to hear the same words repeated? Sure, they take delight in hearing that they have recruited more members into the god squad, but it would be so much easier if new christian musicians just told people they were christian and left the music to those more talented.Arctopus said:The reason why the lyrical content is often much the same is because that's what their focus is on; God, Jesus, the Bible.
Congratulations. *places medal on Arctopus' head* you have successfully repeated what I just said.Arctopus said:As for the reason why you don't connect with the lyrical content... well why would you? You obviously don't hold Christian beliefs so why would you connect with songs about praising and worshiping Jesus?
Acrtopus, calm down man, i wrote like three sentences and you wrote three paragraphs in rebuttle, you link Christian music to the theoligies that religion teaches, when really, Hillsong and whatever else are into the sins that is greed just like every other band. Until the Hillsong abominations (or songs as you call them ) go out for free, there is not real way they can be christian.Your entire argument is invalid in that you claim to dislike Christian music but can only make reference to Hillsong; the Christian music that even Christians know sounds the same. It's kinda like me saying "I support Kevin Rudd, but I don't agree with his sorry speech." You can't pick and choose what you want out of religion, the commandments, although basterdised into the "believe in me and you'll go to heaven" or whatever it is, still have an affect on christians. Hillsong may very well be against adultery, murder and whatever else, so long as they are greedy little buggers, they aren't perfectly christian. isn't there like a dozen things that say something about rich people not being christian (something about the eye of a needle?)
And really, who keeps that exact phrase in their heads when they wave their arms around, they're probably thinking, i really like this song, or i feel close to god right now because of Hillsong, and BAM (the dirt is gone!) idolism.
BUT, you're probably going to tenfold everything i've written here by using the vast number of pre-made arguments that are stored inside your precious bible, can't say i didnt try eh?
Well said - I was thinking the same thing. They were satirised on The Chaser's War on Everything in much the same way - open your hearts to God an your wallets to us. I guess a quick summation of that argument would be "if they were truly that keen about spreading the word of god, they would do it for free."Daipire said:Acrtopus, calm down man, i wrote like three sentences and you wrote three paragraphs in rebuttle, you link Christian music to the theoligies that religion teaches, when really, Hillsong and whatever else are into the sins that is greed just like every other band. tbh you are heaps over interpreting this passage, i am actually writing a talk on it at the moment i see it more as this (as do like 99% of christians i speak to)yeah it says that it is harder for a rich man to get into heaven than a camel to get thorugh an eye of a needle. which doesn't mean it is impossible to get into heaven if you're rich, which you would understand this verse to mean if you didn't take into account the cultural refernce here. in biblical times, "the eye of a needle" was a common term for a doorway, a sort-of rounded arch, which was narrow and therefore hard to get a camel through. taking this into account, this verse means it can be hard to get inot heaven if you're very wealthy, as you can be offerred many temptations because of your wealth.
which is basically what you're saying about hillsong's amass of wealth, leading to greed etc.
Hence why Christians are so annoying... god comes before everything. can't get along with them because there's always something more important than you.mcflystargirl said:If you have anything in your heart that you care about more then jesus (reading the parable before this verse the rich man did) you can not get into heaven</SPAN>
