From tomorrow to Friday week is going to be hell. Group demo for a project on monday, presentation this friday, project proposal due friday week, algorithms assignment being set this week.

Is that the life sciences comp sci course? How's that going?
It's interesting but quite difficult, basically a harder extension of second year algorithms stuff.

they test you? adam bridgeman just signed a form back when i transferred to say i could continue on. lolz

you gonna do the core subjects or the options or both? i haven't done 2404, but from what i've ascertained...

2401>2403>>>2402>>>2404
I'll have to have a look, I've forgotten which is which.

Yeah, it's an open book paper you do on your own after studying the stuff they do in the CHEM1101 stream, then you send it in. Nothing scary, lol.

Just fundamentals, will do the test at the end of the year to be able to take 2nd year subjects

Wish I'd done Chem in Year 12 :(
2404 sucks but isn't core.

2403 is good and isn't core.

No idea about the others.

2403 looks really good, I'm leaning towards Biochem anyway, so might not need core, shall have to look at requirements as it's with another school.

What was so bad about 2404?

Oh, and thanks for the advice neb :)

edit: I'll prob do the core ones anyway to keep my options open, I'm just worried that I might have to overload the way it's going, as I need to do maths as well, as I transferred degrees :s maybe should do it in summer school

2401 is half organic, so it'd be the best bet for a youngun in biochemistry i suppose
however
carbonyl chemistry is of supreme importance and that's covered in 2402

any important concept is covered only in 2402/1 tbh
but they're both pretty good subjects. 2401 very good. just look at the cast list: it reads like a star studded movie!
McErlean! Jolliffe! Schmidt! KABLE!

Just will have to forget about bio then maybe, lol, unless I got for maths in summer school. shrug, I'm more into micro anyway

Have Jolliffe now, she's great :)

rank your subjects in order of:
*enjoyability
*(mark of unit/effort put in)
then multiply them by one another, and constants depending on what you value more
then sort
the subjects on top will hopefully give you an indication of what path to go down

Ah k, might look into that one next year, i need one more 3rd year subject for my comp sci major. I'll probably end up doing object oriented though (info3220)

2nd year algorithms is looking a bit iffy at the moment, but all the material in the lectures become so much easier when you do them in the tute.

CHEM2404: It's just boring. Greg Warr is a shit lecturer (okay not as shit as Peter Lay or whoever, but he has a really condescending attitude) and a dickhead. The experiments suck (spectrosocopy is really shit... put slide in computer... numbers... record... repeat for the entire lab).

The content sucks and it feels like they used a mindmap to mash together 4 random topics... forensic chem + environmental chem + green engo + atmospheric chemistry.

So don't do it.
