Lol, another one of these threads.

I'm in year 10, and these are the subjects I'm thinking of choosing:

Advanced English
SoR II (SoR I is compulsory at my school)
Visual Arts
Information and Processing Technology
Mathematics Extension
Chemistry (or bio)

Total: 13 units

I'm pretty happy with my subjects, except I'm not at all sure how I'll perform in extension maths and chemistry. I've only really gotten 85 ish in my reports (barely an A). I do well in the tests, but that's only compared to everyone else (like, if the average is 11/20, I'll get about 16/20. Not a fabulous mark). I enjoy maths... half of the time. Chemistry... I have no idea. I'm good at the theory, I suppose, so I think that should be alright. I'm ranked 20th out of 168 in the grade for science. I know in Visual arts and IPT I can get 95+ easy. In the whole grade, I'm pretty sure I'm in the top 15% overall.

I'm looking to get into a Visual Communication course at UTS so I can study graphic design~ If I don't get the ATAR that I need though, my second option would probably be something in multimedia or IT.

Ahahaha, I just registered here, let me know if I'm doing anything wrong. Thanks!

the subjects u picked are pretty good, but for IPT you should be fine as long you're not getting a dodgy teacher who gives out dodgy assignments :p

but with the rest of your subjects you should be fine with getting 85+ or even 95+

:)

and don't pay too much attention to scaling, its how you do in the subject that counts as well as the subjects you like.

As long as you like the subjects its all good, plus 85 isn't that bad.

Tell you something:

For maths extension, it's either you're in or you're out. None of this in between business. Work at it, nerdy sounding, but it's honestly rewarding when you get something. So don't shy away in the first instance when you struggle. There are a lot of those moments when you first learn something and find it hard. It's meant to be hard.

But trying again, once, maybe twice, and it becomes clear to you.

Chemistry is a worthwhile subject I find, the pracs are fun, (esp in year 12), the theory isn't too alien, decent scaling, and lots of resources are available. Opportunities to muck around with the equipment are awesome - who hasn't used a wash bottle as a water gun? Also, if there's help needed, people on this forum can help. So...what's not to like?
