Roughly. Would you say 15-20 hours? Or is that too much, because that's what I have my current limit set at. But i'm not too sure because I've just started up Uni again and have switched to an Bachelor of IT.

Depends on your timetable really. If you've got days off you can work longer etc.

I prefer around 12 hours - but that's spilt over 3 days (my work only gives like 4hrs mostly - but im happy with that).

What degree are you doing...?

E.g. A commerce or arts student may have 12 hours of uni a week.

A engineering student may have 25 hours of uni a week.

have you people learnt not to start this argument?

Honestly, I think I'm able to work more than some of my friends at TAFE. Ideally I'd do about 14 hours across two days, but nevertheless I don't get these hours.
At the moment I'm doing about 5-8 hours p/w. But this doesn't mean that I study any more than usual.

Last semester I was at uni forrrr 13 hours (10hrs contact) and worked 12 hours a week (3, 4hr shifts) and I found that really good. Still enough time to socialise, chill, do uni work etc. I wouldn't have liked to work more or less.

i think 15 is a good number, 20 is pushing it and 25 would be stretching it so that your uni would suffer. but just as important is the number of days i think, u really need no more than 3 days with at least 1 full day off and 1 other half day off (from uni + work)

I alternate between working 16 and 21 hours a week (although recently it's been more like 23 hours a week every week :mad1:)

I've been managing ok. Would probably like to work less, but if I don't get everything done it says more about my time management skills than it does about how much I'm working.

Point being?

I'm required to do approximately 25hrs of work outside of the hours I attend TAFE working on client projects, communicating with clients etc. Its really no different to uni in terms of study hours, it's what you want out of it that matters and to me I would prefer to work less (12hrs as opposed to 20hr) so I have time to focus on my study.

As someone mentioned, its going to be different for everyone. Each to their own.

What a small minded statement. A TAFE diploma can be just as intense in workload as a degree. Don't judge it until you try it.

I currently work 20 hours a week, but I'm cutting back to about 12 so I can focus on uni and having a life more - can't wait.

I'm doing a course with 22 contact hours, so I only work 7-14 hours a week. I choose to however, I'm sure I could do more but I dislike being taxed 50% (making me earn $6 per hour :( ] due to centrelink if i work any more. It pays rent and bills so I'm happy =)

I did 16-20 hours a week last semester, and got a D average overall so wasn't too bad. I had one day off a week last semester which was great. This semester its a bit worse, no days off and work on Saturday and Sunday, so guess I'll just have to ride it out :(

I work 21hours a week, I have plenty of time to study. I'd just rather sit on the comp, watch tv or go out though.
