If you don't want a superficial relationship, then you might not want to have superficial criteria.

Stop stereotyping everyone. Just because someone prefers designer clothing for whatever reason, it doesn't mean they are superficial bitches with eating problems, despite what the media tells you.

Conversely, if someone plays violin, it doesn't make them any more compatible with you than someone who does (unless violin is a major part of your life).

And since when was music taste an important factor in a serious long-term relationship?
Realise that someone you can have a good relationship with isn't defined by how points of your criteria list they can tick.

I don't see you mentioning anything on how they might relate with you, or vice versa.
You're taking on an extremely limited view of people. Hopefully you'll be able to realise that for yourself.

Emily could be painfully insecure. She could have "emotional baggage" from this. She could have a perverse notion of love and affection as a result.

But then again, she could not. She could put it down to her father being an dropkick, look for role models in her life to offer her guidance and support etc etc and hey presto, live happily ever after.

It does happen. You know, people seeing wrong in others and avoiding that for themselves.

You're so full of cliches, stereotypes and gross exaggerations, it's pretty clear that these examples of not having standards that you repeatedly throw around, don't hold much weight or meaning because you haven't fully understood the example in full before posting it.
sure.
but it's highly unlikely.
most probably they don't even know the vicious cycle even exists.
i'd say it's about 99%.
(unless they turn to religion or counselling).

now i will take that, from the number of people still living in disadvantaged communities, who have done so for generations

You obviously know so much already, with knowledge and wisdom beyond your years.

Seems there's nothing of benefit to you that we can impart upon you here.

hey, found ur perfect girl yet???
Haha.
'My Perfect' Girl doesn't exist.

No one is perfect.
If i were to say someone was, that'd mean it was infatuation and not love.
As love is when you over-look someone's flaws, and infatuation is where you think they're "OMGOSH PERFECT'

but for my 'criteria' sure, they've been apparently a few here on this forum.
i know a few in real life also...
i have a feeling there's heaps more in elite private school circles...
but i'm not private schooled..

hmmm...

I know right?

Absolute freaking facepalm at every new thing he raises.

I'm starting to wonder if he's ever actually met a girl. Girls in private schools just have more money (in general), which by the way would make them more inclined to buy designer clothes which contradicts one of his original criteria. :spzz:

not all of them buy Gucci to wear on the weekend.
maybe they got in via athletic/academic scholarships =].

besides, if you come from a very wealthy background, designer clothes are expected. i have no qualms with a girl wearing designer clothes if she comes from a very wealthy family.

it's those people from lower to middle classes that insist on wearing designer clothes (fake 99% of the time) that piss me off.

what pisses me off more are drama queen bitches with designer clothes compulsion even though they can't afford anything in season.
they either get fake shit, or they wait for the 'end of season' sale and then wear it going 'ooo look at me i got this (discounted because it's last season's) gucci bag.. i feel good about myself '.

basically those brand whores.

I would argue that when you love someone you find it extremely difficult to tick them off against a checklist. You don't overlook their flaws, you either find them endearing, or decide that it's worth it. Also, flaws are things like "hypocritical, backstabbing, unfaithful, commitment issues" not things like "doesn't play a musical instrument" which are entirely down to a person's interests.

How would you feel if you found the girl of your dreams and she rejected you because you had different views, different hobbies, because you couldn't dance, because you liked different music, because you were messy and she was neat. Or maybe because she had some standard like "Has to make an effort to use correct punctuation and grammar" which your designer clothes standard is about as trivial as.

Or, god forbid this should happen to anyone but me "You're not nerdy enough (and I couldn't possibly compromise the way I spend my time)."

Yeah. Dude. You generalise like nothing else. The bolded is bullshit. I went to a private girl's school and trust me, the majority of them would not fulfill a single one of your criteria.

Most of what you have been saying has no basis in real life. I have a feeling you're just throwing out abstract ideas without really knowing the "real life" aspect of so many of these criteria.

Get out there and actually meet people and don't judge them against a checklist, actually get to know them as a person.

perhaps i should of been specific..
not your shitty diesel, levi's etc.

i mean very upscale, bontique designer brands.

here are the brands:
Versace
Gucci
Prada
Dolce and Gabbana
Who gives? Clothes are clothes. You're like a reverse snob. Prejudice against expensive clothes rather than against cheap ones.
It's like you're in court arguing that the sweater you wore was red, not blue, instead of that you didn't rob the bank. Trivial is trivial.
