Disregard scaling: if you like it, go for it. You'll do much better in the subjects you like despite scaling.

You asked English Advanced OR Extension. Well, you can only choose standard or advanced; extension is an option and a good one if you enjoy English in a broader depth.

O and shuold i take english advanced or extension?

Thanks in advance
hope im not asking too many questions

What are you interested in? Take this year for eg, what subjects are you enjoying the most right now? I know everybody is telling you this but it actually matters: you have to prioritise your INTERESTS, not scaling/"my friends are doing it"/uni course 'prerequisites'.

You shouldn't do extension english if you don't like it. I'm not much of an english person, so I didn't take extension - and I'm really glad.

Maths extension 2 starts in year 12 by the way.

hey the subjects you picked total to 10 units which is enough for yr 12, but you are thinking about yr 11 which does not have extension 2 maths, only extension 1 so you can just pick any other subjects and drop them in yr 12 =]

o crap your rite
didnt know that
lol
You can pick mxt1 and then mxt1 to do in year 12 if you want to do it.

If you want the typical "asian combo" then look into chemistry. Just pick a subject that you like, preferably with decent scaling eg , latin, economics, modern etc etc

I'm doing both mxt1 and mxt2 courses right now; some people are doing mxt2 but they're not doing mxt1 at the same time (they might've accelerated) because they've already done it.

It is decent, but once you get into band 6 around 93 then modern's scaling is excellent. It isn't a high scaling subject but i'd classify it as having good or higher than average scaling (subjects like VET subjects, general math and business i'd classify as having bad/horrible scaling XD).

Since you're aiming for an ATAR of 99+ i suggest that you don't do SDD unless you think you can get a band 6 easily because it has very bad scaling.

Band 6s for everything! ^_^. It will eliminate any chances of being scaled down too much.

ye i think im definitely gonna go along the lines of what your doing (since your aiming for 99+ ATAR as well)

two last questions..lol
SDD has a scaling of 25.6, which is only 1.4 away from Modern History. So how come you consider SDD a low scaling subject and not Modern History?

and yes now i just need to choose one last 2 unit subject
what about legal studies? (considering i wannt to end up in law)

i repped you ftw
thanks loads

It's the % that you look at, not the gap between the marks. Also, with SDD not a lot of people do it (~2000 compared to ~10,000 with modern) so it is much harder to get a band 6 in SDD than in modern.

Legal studies doesn't have great scaling but it's not horrible. If you love it then aim for band 6 and scaling won't affect you much. Seeing as you want to do law, it seems like a good idea ^^

Hehe, thanks for the rep :D

Just aim for mid band 6s for most of your units and you'll get 99+ ^^
No legal? I hope you enjoy learning about the stupid choices of leaders in modern :p

Aha you have the "asean combo" with EE1 and modern :)

I apparently have the asian combo for next year but with 1unit Studies of Religion. I doubt I will approach 99+ for my ATAR though. I'll leap for joy if I were to.
