i tried searching the forums but it said no results so now ill just ask -

i want to calculate my GPA, after the end of this semester
but everywhere i go there are always different methods...
is GPA weighted at all like wam?
do 2nd year or 3rd subjects count for more than first year, or does it go off UoC?

im at unsw by the way, any help would be appreciated :)

I heard rumours or whatever its called that the WAM is a little different from the GPA..WAM = Weighted average mark and GPA = Grade Point average. Different institutions use either these two or maybe others idk about others.

I sort of remember how to calculate GPA.

Averagely theres 8 UoC/units in a year right? So if you want to calc. 1 semester/ this semester then:

Say you got for the spring semester or 1st half: 3 credits and 1 distinction

Then the scale for GPA at UWS is something like this*:

7 High Distinc

6 Distinc.

5 Credit

4 Pass

0 Fail

* I personally call the value above "points"

therefore your GPA for the first semester would be the average of your achievements divided by the sample space,

I.e.

3 Credits X (Times) 5 points + 1 dist. X 6

= 15 + 6

= 21

So divide 21 by 4 (4 awards or etc):

21/4 = 6

GPA hence = 5 1/4 or 5.25

P.S Try and help uac.aplcnt out on his thread as well dude about the "cut offs" because I want to know that as well since I helped you

21/4 = 6? Or does the most minute decimal round up?
