Watching docos on these chicks who write to death row inmates and eventually marry them ... Is this weird as shit?
You know, guy is in jail for life, no parole for killing 3 people... and the chick is like, 'he has touched me in an emotional and spiritual way like no other ... he isn't a bad guy' ...

It's probably because they are in such close proximity with these men 24/7...
and of course these men really have nothing better to do than fall in love...think about it. They'd fall for any woman that came near them, being surrounded by stinky serial killers all night and day. Those female psychologists would look like a beacon of light in their dark, one way tunnel.

Tell me, how do they consumate their marriage in jail?

No they're not psychologists.

They're women in America who decide to write to death row inmates and "fall in love".

They don't consummate their marriage, they're not allowed to. Most of them will go the duration of the marriage with no physical contact. You have to apply for conjugal visits or some shit, and they're rarely granted.

Well that's the crux of the issue.

Apart from being a religious looney, what would a 40 year old nail technician with three teenage kids want with a man who is in jail for 35 years for shooting someone in an armed robbery..

They'd been married for 2 years, but she hadn't touched him ever.

What compels women to write to these guys. Do they think they can "save" these men, or "change" them, idk. I just don't get it.

maybe the brokenness of the men alerts their want to nurture.

there is not necessarily a fundamental sickness.
i mean, it could have been that there was a sheltered girl who wanted to find out what it was like to hear from one of these men. and then the stories both shocked and enthralled her - much like one reading a murder mystery.

are you so naive to think that you could not love someone who is flawed?

But that's the thing, some of these women don't appear lonely.

They've got family, friends, secure jobs ... that's the bit that confuses me. What compels an otherwise normal woman to seek contact with a convicted murderer.


RE: Quik. Some of them are motived by religious reasons, but the few segments I've been watching, none of them have been overly religious.
