PrettyVacant

Agreed. Bst way to get rid of them is to say that you're going to the Revue.
They were promoting some Pirates of the Cardiology Dead Man's Chest thing and I felt like giving them a cardiac arrest.

Not enough students at UNSW speak English :bomb:

This is why it is called Tokyo Techie.

.
Numero uno, you go to CSU.
It is an outback garbage of a university where coathangers in dormitories are probably used more often for abortions than hanging clothes and speech impediment is accepted.
Numero due, you only do an Arts degree on Journalism.
Are you going to be Al Jazerra's next reporter?
I can watch uncensored gruesome videos not suitable for media on LiveLeak anyway.

Dear students

With the onset of the flu season, it is inevitable that some students will
develop flu-like symptoms and may be concerned because of the "swine flu" threat.

First thing, don't panic. It may be regular flu or even just a cold.
But there are important steps you should take if you have reason to think
there is cause for concern (see below).

The University has a Pandemic Response Plan that will be activated if and
when a pandemic occurs. At this stage, with no declared pandemic, the response
of the University is to reinforce the message of the NSW Department of Health.

Students should be aware that public health advice changes regularly and it
is important to review the NSW Health web site for updated information:
http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/publichealth/swine_flu.asp

The Australian Government Health Emergency website also provides regularly
updated information:
http://www.healthemergency.gov.au/internet/healthemergency/publishing.nsf

Students are strongly advised to avoid travel to flu-affected regions.
For updated travel advice visit:
http://www.dfat.gov.au/

* If you think you have swine flu

NSW Health has updated its advice to the general public and GPs on what to do
when someone fits the suspected case definition of "Swine flu".

If you have flu like symptoms and have a relevant travel history or have contact
with someone with confirmed swine flu, then you need to attend your local Public
Hospital Emergency Department. Please check this page on the NSW Health website:
http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/publichealth/swine_flu.asp#para_5

NSW Health is providing resources to Emergency Departments for priority testing
for swine flu (when indicated) and if necessary, free antiviral medication.
These treatments will generally be recommended if the affected patient is seen
within 48 hours of onset of illness or is severely ill.

* If you have flu symptoms but do not meet the swine flu definition

If you have flu symptoms, but do not have the travel history or contact with
someone with confirmed swine flu then you are advised to see your local GP.

* Flu or a cold?

Many people may panic when they get a cold and think they have swine flu.
There are some typical differences between a cold and the flu that will help
people make the decision about when and how to get the right medical attention.
The flu is usually a more severe illness with sudden onset of fever, headache,
tiredness, cough, sore throat and body aches. There is more information about
the difference between Influenza and a cold on the Australian Government's
'fight flu' web site:
http://www.fightflu.gov.au/influenza

* How to protect yourself

The spread of the flu will be reduced by:

- Covering your mouth and nose with a tissue when you sneeze or cough and disposing of
the tissue responsibly

- Washing your hands with soap and water

- Not sharing personal items (e.g. straws, drinks, toothbrushes)

- Cleaning surfaces around your home and workplace

- Staying at home if unwell

I will keep you updated on the University's response if the swine flu threat escalates.

Regards

Huh. this 'pandemic response plan' is intriguing. what do they do? hit the 'pandemic' button?
They run a 15th fire drill in the red centre for no apparent reason.

Its getting quite ridiculous i had an exam worth 15% and we only had 30 mins to do it due to the fire alarm going off (the lecturer took off the easiest question....)

I didn't really mind it, but it happened again this week, wasted 2 tutorials.

I have never heard that term in a million years. Maybe that's a very outdated term that has become fashionable in your pathetic little shit hole university. :D

All I know is my Uni has a quantum computer, whilst yours would be lucky to have even a few basic computers.
No it is a term used by other universities (quite close in proximity) to describe UNSW.

In regards to UNSW owning a quantum computer, it really doesn't bother me as owning one would add nothing to my degree. How would a quantum computer enhance journalism?

Oh and how is that campus going in Singapore?

UNSW Singapore campus doomed to fail
June 27, 2007

AFTER just one semester, the University of NSW's Singapore campus officially closes its doors tomorrow, an uneasy conclusion to one of the Australian higher education sector's worst business failures.

If the legacy of bereft students and angry academics weren't bad enough, other Australian universities offering programs in Singapore fear their reputations as business partners and education providers will suffer as the taint of the collapse spreads.

What a waste of tax payer money, so I suppose this is two things to hate about UNSW.

IMO pandemic is a bit too strong to use at this stage. It'd be more appropriate to say theres a flu that gets around really easily and until several countries are infected and the disease is running rampant within I'm not ready to call it a 'pandemic'.

also play this game and see whether you can infect Madagascar. Its harder than you think.

You are studying journalism.
What a fucking degenerate degree, add CSU next to it and it takes that to a new level.
If you ever graduate, your paper is a better paper aeroplane or origami instead.
The Singapore campus doesn't affect me, other than it shortens semesters to a nice 12 weeks which I'm fine with.

people at uni already wearing masks
Where have you spotted these individuals wearing them?

Why does the ASB have at least 6 computer labs compared to mech eng with only 2 computer labs?
not to mention some cunts lock the computers to run simulations and mech eng comps have more software than ASB comps do and yet mech eng only has IE7, why not firefox as well?

There was an Asian dude on Eddy Avenue and another Asian guy on 2nd floor Quad
ok good i dont order food at 2nd floor quad.
