I think the problem with general is not that the maths is too simple, it is that too much of it can only be presented in a "black box" kind of way (e.g., Simpson's Rule with no calculus.) And they do harder probability than the 2 Unit students!
Also, I am not sure how useful the course is to the people who learn it. I think the technology aspect of it could be done a lot better, and much closer to what people will do in real life, if we dropped those stupid graphics calculators and used spread sheets much more.
And the literacy problems with the course... Well, they are another story.
