Hey,

Yes, i'd imagine that being depressed and needing a UAI over 90 would NOT make it any easier.

Have you thought about other ways to do the particular thing you want to do? There are back doors for almost everything, you know. So perhaps you could look into that. Ring up a uni or something, see what they have to say. It's just really important not to set unrealistic expectations (if it is unrealistic for you??), because you might end up disappointing yourself.

I hope you're not too stressed now. Just keep at it.

xo

im not sure if theres any way to get into what i want to do... to be totally honest, i dont even KNOW what i want to do... im just aiming for 90 because i reeaally wana go to either usyd or unsw :) and some of the things i was looking at for those uni's (eg. bach med sc, bach psychology) were heaps high.... and i do believe i can get 90 or above... im pretty good at maths and chemistry.... got 96% in both asssessments so far... but im just soo lazy lol and such a big procrastinator, im heaps worried i wont be able to keep up those marks all the way through to the hsc! :(

i think also that not knowing how the whole hsc/uni system thingy works, with all the scaling and calculation of UAI and how to enroll in uni and cut offs and CSP and all these things, makes alot of people really worried too... because our school hasnt even explained ANY of that to us! its like, how am i sposed to know where im at? i dont even know what a cohort is, and i see other ppl on this website using that word all the time...

well anywhooo.... i just CANNOT wait til its all over! because when it IS all over that means three things...

1) SCHOOOLIESS!! :D
2) FORRRMALL!! :D
3) FREEEDOOMMM :D

hahahaha thatss my motivation :p

yea i didn't think so, i just thought that maybe it wasn't the very best advice for ashabella to assume your depressed and imply you should drop your aims. If your stressed, it should be those very aims that keep you going.

Most students do about 12 units, lol, i promise your not alone, many do a lot more (why i have no idea). I'll take this to the other thread maybe, but if your hating a subject, dont feel the need to keep it just for a safety net, many people ace the hsc with 10 units as it allows them to work intensively on the subjects they've got.

I'll give it a go. :)
What should we call it?
hmmm

I don't know???

errr...

should we make it something more general like:

Coping with mental illness during the HSC

or just...

Coping with the pressure/stress of the HSC?

I just think it might be nice to include ALL people that need help or need to vent, rather than JUST depressed people.

But i'm not sure... that could be difficult in some respects because it would be very broad, and probably wouldn't have much focus. And if the aim is to create a 'support group' then it probably needs a focus....

hmmmm

I'm torn, what do you guys think?

Only some schools will give you special provisions and the BOS will NOT i tried. I have clinical depression AND clinical anxiety and am medicated for both. I TRIED to get special provissions but you need a psychiatrist report and even then you have a small chance of getting special provisions. Then you add parental pressure ontop of that (your not the only one going through this, some people have it worse, what makes you soo special??? why can't you just be normal, your not abnormal, what excuse have you got... 85% are you serious!!!! YOu should be getting a minimum of 90% on every test! I don't care if you TRIED your HARDEST... Thats not good enough!!!) My lil sis died 4 days before Christmas 2 years ago, i watched her suffer for three years with cancer. She was 13. I'm NOT NORMAL i will NEVER be. *exhales to calm down* so yeah depression is big and the HSC only makes it harder. But just pull through it. Ultimately it is only one year of your life and there are so many other ways of getting into uni or whatever else you wanna do.
