this is all the information i could find on the subjects so if something is different and im wrong please tell me so i dont rock up on the day looking like a complete idiot :)

if anyone else is doing these subjects please tell

COMP1917 - March 2nd @ Clancy Auditorium. my timetable says 12oclock so i guess then

MATH1081 - http://www.maths.unsw.edu.au/students/current/Week0S1.pdf for times and place???

MATH1131 - http://www.maths.unsw.edu.au/students/current/Week0S1.pdf for times and place???

INFS1603 - none

with the 2 maths subjects that im doing, will 1 cover both classes?

edit: http://www.computing.unsw.edu.au/oweek/ shows time for week 0. hopefully no sign ups required

For math courses, just go to any of the maple lectures and follow up by having a little practice session in the math comp labs. If you have problems signing in (you have a separate login for the math computers) you get to seek help from a lab attendant. This lab attendant also helps you solve those tricky maple problems you have trouble working through. I might go for one of these as a refresher course.

for comp, drop into any lab time listed for help on setting up your cse account. I'll be posting a thread in computing forum afterwards to help if you miss lab 0 for some sad reason.

considering all the electrical engineers kept on wailing about how tough computing was for them, comp1911 was designed to make them feel better about themselves

If I was not to attend any of the week 0 Math1131 lectures/comp lab sessions, how disadvantaged would I be? Is it really necessary? I don't do a computing course.

You need to do some online Maple quiz.

Information booklet.

There is a PRACTICE online Vista maple test worth nothing, you can attempt this as many times as you like and it won't count to your grade at all.
You need to achieve at least 5 out of 10 to unlock the REAL Vista maple test.

You have 3 attempts with the REAL Vista maple test, the best one out of three attempts counts to your final grade with a weighting of 4%.
You could even do it with friends together like I did if you'd like to be sneaky and be a good comrade.

There are THREE different tests that more or less uses Maple throughout Math 1A and 1B.
the Vista one (4% to final grade), the quizzes (20% of final grade consisting of 4 quizzes), and the laboratory test (8% to final grade, single test) to avoid confusion.

harh harh.

The average is usually 9/15 for the Maple lab test (the 8% one) which I achieved in MATH1131 and similarly for MATH1231 but I achieved 14/15 because it is the working that matters not the answer.
