We are biological machines with an insatiable desire to mate. Sex should occur when both people seek it. Attraction is not a choice. I do not believe inherently in “sins” or “sex” as an act of evil/temptation. Hence in my view, sex before marriage is perfectively acceptable between two willing parties. Contraception is perfectly acceptable. Abortion should be utilized carefully and restricted, but it is acceptable when the sex was not between two willing parties (i.e. rape) or the future birth of the child would not be cumulatively beneficial to the child or the parents- mainly due to them being too young, financial reasons, substance abuse, and risk of illness for child etc.

But why should a social phenomenon be illegal? It's not the govenment's job to regulate relationships.
If relationships are harmful, like those between terrorists and gays, then it is the govenrment's job to regulate.

No, but it is the government's job to regulate corrupting phenomenon, in the duty of benefiting society as a whole and strengthening 'family ties'. I would say that pre-marital sex is inherently perverted. It does grave injury to the dignity of its participants, since each one becomes an object of base pleasure and illicit's a lack of commitment. It's a dangerous illusion which makes it more difficult to form dignified romantic and later on, family relationships.

imo, though. Like I say, i'm more interested in other opinions
I was tempted to print out the entire post as a reminder of what happens when women drink during pregnancy. And then drop their child on their head... several times.

no. its your decision when you want to have sex. if you believe in sex after marriage, then you can wait but you cant make it illegal because its your belief. we're all entitled to our own opinions :)

i just signed in and this was one of the topic thingo's
personally
in past relationships ive had sex with a few previous girlfriends before we went out it did result in the relationship being just about sex, there was no connection, but seriously, mate it is NOT inherently perverted and it doesnt mess people up
learning from past experiences me and my current girlfriend who is currently my longest lasting relationship have not had sex, and i dont want to for another little while, i believe this has allowed us to connect on a different level then just sexual and she is the only girl i can honestly say ive loved
it is bogus for it to be illegal, but, from past experience and knowledge, sex isnt considered with much value, it' somewhat of a hobby for some rather then the actual bringing together of two people ( as parents explain it )

sex should never be illegal for unmarried people, for example my girlfriends parents arent married but have been together for over 20 years and have 4 children. i just believe morals should be placed ahead of pleasure.
nerd surfer, mate you may have your beliefs and shit, but you are apart of a small minority, perhaps go see what your missing out on (Y)

sorry if this was no use to anyone just voicing my oppinions

For those of you who are ridiculously blind or stupid, this is quite possibly one of the best troll posts I have seen on my 4 yrs at BOS.

Don't believe me, go back to "News and Current Affairs", scroll down and select Iron's "Should pornography be illegal?"

This thread was a word-for-word copy and fucking hilarious

+ve rep to Surfernerd (or is it Iron's troll account??)

Troll post it may be (and boy, were we had :p) but either way, it's not necessarily an invalid discussion.

True, but irrespective of it's 'moral' nature, how could the state ever enforce such a law if it were to be made? The whole population would be crim's.

it's just a light and offbeat one

hey, why not make all sex conditional upon marriage? If you get bored, you can try singing or running!
This has been a light afternoon of refresh-motainment with Iron and plagarists

Such is the nature of various thought- or victimless crimes, which the government currently legislates against.

But hey, if there is ever a movie about you, maybe I'll get the role? Or was I inaccurate? What is your actual contention on this topic?

That would be about as effective as making marriage compulsary. Dahhh wat if people dont want marriage etc and just want a relationship in the emotional and the physical sense. Anyway if that actually happened an uprise would start and the hippies of the world would come crashing down apon law makers. and anyway the law is meant to be based on a democratic societys values and im pretty sure you couldnt argue that there are a majority of ppl that believe in outlawing pre marital sex. even the term pre marital suggests that there indeed will be marriage in the future. Not Always The Case.
