Now that it has been revealed that Brett Stewart has infact been charged over the sexual assault of a 17 year old girl, and that Anthony Watmough has been found to have assaulted a team sponsor, how do you guys think this will affect Manly's season?

Manly haven't stood down Stewart yet, but there is growing media pressure now that he's been charged, to do so. Obviously he'd be a pretty big loss for Manly.

How do you guys think Manly would play without him?
The NRL has suspended Stewart until Rd 5.

A $100k fine? The NRL have got be be kidding. Manly will rightly call in their lawyers over this. You cannot fine an employer over the (alleged) actions of an employee when he is not strictly at work!

um id be inclined to say that he was at work. i think they would have in their contracts that they are at work when they are at club functions? and just like if you got drunk at your work then sexually assaulted a girl your work would be liable??

But would my employer be viable? $100k is a lot of money when the club itself did nothing wrong, strictly speaking.

Anyways, I joined the BoS tipping comp. Should be good fun.

the club did plenty wrong:

they steal all parra players

and theyr all cocks

i think thats worth 100k!!!!!!

It's more to do with breach of the code of conduct for clubs.

They are supposed to have control of their players, and also provide an appropriate environment that wont allow the game to be brought into disrepute.

All in all, I think they do need to fine Manly.

This sets a precedent that if clubs are responsible for placing their players in situations that have the potential to tarnish the image of the game (ie. functions without limits on alcohol, for starters), then they will pay the price.

It's not like the NRL have any room to move here, given the prevalent cases of Greg Bird, Todd Carney etc etc.

Eels and Roosters?
the Knights beat them last time they played each other
the roosters are a dangerous team as long as anasta and pearce can keep up their aerial assault, they'll always be right up there when they have a roster like they do. and in 07 parramatta were (in my opinion) the 2nd most deadly team out there. they were unlucky to lose to storm in the semi.

anyway.
ROOSTERS FOR THE PREMIERSHIP!
