To what extent the slowing down of the economy has effected you personally or the area where you live?

I'm finding it almost impossible to get a job, and those that are advertised seem to get around 50 applicants, making it nigh on impossible to actually get employed even in the most menial of jobs. You used to always be able to rely on McDonalds if you were desperate but I can't even get one there!

Also on the high street 3 shops have shut down in the last two weeks alone, with around 5 bars closing since christmas, and this is just in a little town.

My girlfriend lost her job last November and still looking.
That means we can't do anything about buying a townhouse/house as we wanted until she gets something stable and full time.

um my pay has actually gone up?
Lucky. Why?

My boss has become more stingy and only puts the 14-15 yo staff members on the weekends because they're paid less than the 16-20+ staff
But my dad's stopped complaining about the price of petrol

Father lost his job
Mother got a new job
People are apparently finding it impossible to find a job anywhere
I'm getting the same amount of shifts, and I've been spending money at sales
Put off getting a motorbike
Absolutely no shops have shut down in Camden
