lol, i suppose its mostly about where you speed. my parents now bought me one of those GPS things that tell you your speed, but also detect radar (handheld and speed cameras) from up to two k's away

Radar detectors are illegal. Also there's no way it could detect one 2 km away. Furthermore most fixed speedcameras are starting to use piezo strips.

In NSW they have 3 signs before every camera anyway, the only way you get caught is if highway patrol get you.

Yeah sweet, we can go to iraq in the army, we can drink, we can own a .308 rifle, we are adults in the eyes of the police etc but we cant drive until our early 20s lol, nice.
We can has an actual loaded weapon, but figurative weapons are still a no-no.

"We are giving people at 17 a licence. It's like giving potentially a loaded gun and saying these are the rules that you don't use the gun."

just a reminder that this quote is fucking stupid

"There's 99.5 per cent of them that abide by the rules, the other half a per cent is just a disaster."

lol. this half a percent... is reason to raise the driving age to 25. we need to protect this minority from themselves.

No it makes sense. They put a car in your car so you don't drive while you drive.

EDIT: Guns are loaded with potential now? What happened to rainbows, hope and dreams?

also having walked up that road when I was at schoolies, you are really fucking stupid if you speed on it because its really windy and you cant really see well around the corners (they're quite sharp).

People die in car accidents.
Young people will be relatively over represented.

People need to get over these facts. There's a maddening, hysterical constant escalation of restrictions and penalties for young people on the roads, usually to little benefit. No one should lose their licence for low level speeding, or having one or two beers. Diminishing returns. You start to punish the users excessively, for very little real gain in lower road deaths.

Access to a flexible, frequent, cheap transport network is a fundamental right for anyone of employable age.
