Im guessing that since you are doing civil you don't care about computing, so there's no point doing 1911. =D
Well I'm doing Elec Eng but according to the handbook:

  1. ENGG1811 is an acceptable alternative for COMP1911.

???

Ohkk, the OP is doing civil. For elec, you should do 1911 for sure since you have to do 1921 in second session which is needed for second year embedded systems.

Hey guys, if i was wanting to keep my options open ( ihaven't decided on a major yet), it would be best to do COMP1911 right? I'd like to know whether this subject makes the total workload unbearable...

Start with 1911 and if you find it unbearable then drop to 1811.

I cant wait to start civil engineering at Uni now. I went for uni of Syd and got in there and through VTAC got into Melbourne uni. Im deferring for a year so i got a while to think bout which one to do. Do you always have the choice to do normal or higher maths/physics, i might take higher maths.

So if im doing civil engineering, I can pick ENGG1811 as a subject elective? I don't see it on the engineering elective list though.

Decided to go to the second option seeing as travel only takes 1 hr and my travel to high school took 1.5 hrs so i'd be able to handle it quite well.

thanks for your opinions :D

I've found 2 timetables which are great for me at the moment - i'd like your opinions on it. Preferably from 07'ers or older because you guys have experience.

OPTION 1

OPTION 2

if you are doing elec eng, you HAVE to do COMP1911 eventually (as it is a pre-req for COMP1921, which is a pre-req for a number of ELEC subjects in 2nd year), so you may as well knock it over in first year

hope this helps :)
