The family of a pregnant woman shot dead by her husband says it still has no closure, after her killer won the right to walk free eight years before his maximum jail term expires.
Brian Corrigan was sentenced to 22 years in prison after shooting his wife Kim twice in the head at their NSW south coast home in 1992, killing her and their unborn baby girl.
Corrigan, who was 34 at the time, had waited inside their darkened house in Kiama before ambushing his 27-year-old wife, who was seven months pregnant.
He initially claimed an intruder had committed the murder, but later blamed voices in his head - a claim the trial judge rejected.
Having served less than 16 years of his sentence, the NSW State Parole Authority last month issued an "intention to grant parole" to Corrigan, saying he had a blemish-free record in jail.
Appearing by audio-visual link on Thursday, Corrigan was granted conditional parole.
He will be released by February 5.
Speaking outside the hearing at Parramatta, Ms Corrigan's family said they will never have any closure because they will never find out why their former son-in-law did it.
"We miss her every day for the rest of our life," her father Jim Taber told Macquarie Radio.
"She was a model daughter. She was a bright kid, very sports minded. Worked for the community, (had a) Surf Life (Saving) Club membership.
"I think Corrigan may have felt badly about that because he was a very ego-driven guy and Kim had all the limelight.
"(But) closure never takes place because he showed no remorse right throughout the court hearing and there was never any decision made about why he did it."
As well as standard parole conditions - such as not reoffending and not leaving the state or country without permission - Corrigan must also abide by further conditions set by the court which will stop him from visiting his former wife's family or neighbourhood.
"The offender must not contact, communicate with, stalk, harass or intimidate specified person - which is (Kim's mother) Noeline Thistle and family," a State Parole Authority spokesman told AAP.
"The offender must not frequent or visit specified district - which is Bowral, Terrigal and Kiama."
The conditions are cold comfort to Jim Taber who was accompanied by his ex-wife Noeline Thistle.
"He'll get out of jail, and he'll get on with life - as long as complies by those parole conditions," he said.
"I guess we've all got to live with that."
