:) Hi Everyone :)

I'm currently in Year 11 and these are my subjects

- Religion (2U) Compulsory
- English Standard
- General Maths
- Legal Studies
- Modern History
- Economics

Our school was asking if we are considering dropping a subject at the end of Year 11.

My questions are

- What are my best scaling subjects and my worst?

- I don't want to do 2 units of religion but had to make up 12 units
so would it be wise to drop to 1 unit and keep my other subjects?

- If religion is compulsory and it's not your best in the HSC will it still be automatically counted in the top 5 for my atar?

- How hard is year 12 Modern History, Economics, General Math? Which one is hardest?
If I kept religion I'd drop one of these. I love History but don't do that well with essays.
Economics I'm finding a bit hard but am keeping up.
General math a bit hard as well and some of the 'challenge' questions I can't do.

Thanks ~ :):):)

1) Economics would be the best and Legal or SOR would be the worst. However, whilst standard scales well, it aligns poorly, so that is probably the subject that can hurt your ATAR the most.
2) If you're in Year 11, you need 12 units. I would consider dropping to SOR I and pick up another 2 unit subject. This will give you more options heaving into the HSC.
3) No, only 2 units of English must count towards the ATAR.
4) It's hard to answer that question as it depends on the person and their skill set. I'd say General is dead easy, with Economics and Modern being the hardest.
