Anyone tried it yet? I got that signup email to try the new Hotmail and MSN Beta and so on... but I really can't be bothered making my PC unstable when everything works great as it is. Are there any new features worth trying out?

Mail beta is pretty similar to Gmail, minus everything that's good about Gmail. They still have the banner ads, but they've introduced a nice AJAX-based interface. It's still pretty cluttered, and not as clean or well developed as Gmail is yet, but I think it works better than the old Hotmail.

Messenger probally isnt worth trying atm, unless you really want to be an active tester. Its still filled with many bugs and the word is that they are thinking of significantly redesigning the GUI (people havent really found the look of it that great)
And there has only been 1 beta version of it so far, (no updates to it as of yet) so i would wait till a future build, or the possible public beta in a few months.

Yeah, I got an email about it, had a look at some screenshots, and I agree with the interface and look of it. I much prefer msn 7.5 for now, probably just wait until a new official version is out.

Ironically Live Messenger won't install on Windows Vista (I'm in the testing team for both).

So umm.. what is Windows Live all about?

I'm a bit behind these days, I finally made the move to MSN7.0 about a week ago, up from 6.2. Thinking about it, I'd rather go back to MSN6.2 again.

Have a look at this page: http://ideas.live.com/

Should give you some idea of the products involved and the idea behind it. Its basically a common brand for a number of Microsoft's internet programs etc.

I quite like Vista, it's to the point where none of my computers are running XP anymore. Still chugs along quite a bit, but I realise that'll be fixed up later. Glass is damn sexy, the new explorer interface takes a bit of getting used to but I'm finding it really easy to get around now. Virtual folders are the greatest invention known to man.

Edit: I got some new invites for Live Messenger today, if anyone's interested send me off a PM (with your passport email address). The first 4 will get them. (I want to save one for me since I'll be getting a new email address soon).

Yes Vista is quite good. The best Microsoft beta out at the moment is Office 12. Its quite simply briliant, the GUI has been completely revamped to improve functionality. The Office 12 designers need to give the messenger 8 team a few hints! ;)

I now have ~30 WLM invites left. PM me if you want one :)

Nerd.

j/k

I didn't get invited to Office 12 Beta :( Oh well, at least they gave us free 180 day trial versions of 2003 for vista testing.

I'm part of the 'live' beta, in Messenger and signing up for hotmail. Also looking into beta testing other products.
