that i need to score so ridiculously high in my exams to even get a decent UAI? I would say that I am an above-average student, but even if i average around 80 for all my exams, i will get (by all means) a rather mediocre, 77 for my UAI, according to the 2005 SAM. Would it be indictative of me scoring 80 for my UAI in 2008?

firstly what subjects do you do. secondly what is youre school rank. if you are an above average student at a low ranking school then you arn't necessarily above average in the state. remember that uai is a rank not a mark. a uai of 77 still means you are above average.

Yo, I go to a school ranked 50, more or less, and I do advanced maths, standard english, legal, eco, and business.

I'm average and above in most of my subjects. What UAI would I be looking at?

80-90 with your "average and above" information.

Seriously, how can we determine your UAI if you give us "average/above" as your rank? 2/3 is theoretically "average" but so is 45/90.

you're internal ranks would give a more accurate prediction. but so far i would say somewhere in the 80's.

The HSC is a dog-eat-dog academic competition.
It also depends on the subjects.

It's probably because 80 is the average performance of all students for those subjects you picked.
I put in 80 for each of Eng Adv, Physics, chem, 4u maths and got 92 from SAM
