Genuinely what is the point of keeping someone like this within school, wasting tax payers money?

also like on the opposite end of the spectrum. There's this one kid at my school that is crazy smart and ranks first in everything, gets full marks in nearly every accelerated adv and ext 1 exam. Like how is fair that she's taking all the first place ranks and is automatically gonna get dux. Like she should have gone to James ruse or smth not my school which isn't even that great

why is it unfair for someone to be smart

some people don't like the environment of JR and the like

I was kinda joking. But like if I was as smart at her I would at least go to a higher ranked private school or smth better than my school. Cause it's kinda frustrating, like if she wasn't there, there would be so many different people that could have a chance of ranking first and stuff but instead she takes all of it and there's none left for us.

okay that's fair enough, and ig I don't know where ur school sits at all so there's that too

idk I just feel like the most subjects one kid can take is like 7 (more if you do accel) so there's still so many first place subjects
for me at least we have some subjects that have cohorts of like 5 and less so maybe to me at least those high ranks don't matter as much, like what is 1st if you're competing against 3 people? anyways
I dunno I feel like she'd arguably be pulling the cohort's moderation upwards cuz she'd perform well in the HSC but I'm no expert
yeah rank matters but I feel like the way it matters is kinda...not as simple as omg first haha

and maybe I'm biased but there's my opinion at least, agree to disagree haha

but idk if she'll pull the cohort up if she's an outlier idk tho. But there are still other people who do really well. It's just that she does so well like last year she placed 1st in basically every single subject and got all the academic awards, etc. Like she'll def take 1st place for all the sciences, math accel English and any other subject she does which is already a lot

lol. Yeah and apparently on the last math exam everyone was crying about how bad it was and she was like oh that was the easiest test ever. But yeah idk anything about the outlier system so maybe it's good that she's doing well and pulling us all up. And she doesn't even go to tuition Unless she's lying

awwwww yeah it can be super annoying if they can't read the room, like it's chill if you think you did well but let everyone else have their moment

untreated but this reminds me, I had this other friend in my old school that like declined like 5 selective school offers and decided to stay at our old crappy school. And I'm like why did u sit the selective test just to decline it. And she was also gonna move to my current school and declined it to. And she sat the selective test in year 6 and then sat the hast at least once maybe even twice

oh yeah and that school literally talked her out of going to a selective school cause they said that there's like no extracurriculars or sporting teams (which is bs) and like all they do is study (idk if that's true but I think that's just a stereotype). idk why I'm yapping about useless stuff like this

This reminds me of this post from Twitter where someone got accepted to Harvard, but didn't accept the invitation like brother what are you doing.

imo high school is literally just day care for teenagers, so there’s no reason that person should be kicked out of high school or anything. although that person isn’t exactly learning in class, they’re also not left to fend for themselves in the real world. high school is more or less just a transitory state between dependent child and fully responsible adult.

I heard some ppl who should be in top schools but don’t, choose not to go bc the exams in lower ranked schools r “ easier” and there’s less competition- so they can rank first or some. Personally, I’ve never met anyone who’s done that but they exist apparently & do it intentionally bc they wanna rank first. Idk what benefit that’d have besides looking nice on a report tho lmao

there’s so many reasons why high achieving ppl don’t go to top schools like jr ☠ kinda silly to be salty if someone at ur avg school is performing rlly well like good for them

a lot of parents don't think twice about school rankings before sending their kid to high school, so if someone over-performs in a mid school it's probably not even a convoluted plot to come first in every subject. the person might not have even done nor known about the selective school test in year 6, and just made use of the academic opportunities given to them
