Why does Jane Eyre coment on herself during the novel? (1 Viewer)

She does this a lot and apparently, it's important, why? I assume it's meant to show her development by contrasting their ideas?

This one i am more unsure about. Why does she explain most of the supernatural events? She creates this suspense and mystery only to immediately explain it. Why is the suspense and mystery important?
