LOL @ "azn way of studying"
It's just ... complex
But here is my recapitulation of the IPT course.
What is IPT? aka "Whatchu talking about willis?"
IPT teaches you about information based systems and the processes and technologies involved in the design and implementation of such information systems.
Covering a variety of processes such as collecting, organising, analysing, storing, retrieving and displaying, including the technologies that support them, IPT is designed to provide the opportunity for students to study all aspects related to information systems, which include:
* hardware
* software
* system environment
* participants
* data/information
used by such systems.
With this knowledge, students are well-placed to adapt to new, emerging technologies.
What am I supposed to know at the end of the course? aka "Whatdya want me to learn, punk?!"
Through the IPT course, you should gain a sound working knowledge of:
* concepts of data, information, and systems
* the interactive nature of an effective information system
* current and emerging information technologies
* social/ethical issues associated with the use of IT such as equity, access, privacy, freedom of information and copyright, among others.
* the communication, personal and team skills required and necessary to ensure that an information system and it's solution is appropriate to the needs of the users/scenario.
finally
* issues such as project management, documentation, and design (user interfaces).
The HSC exam is there so that you will draw on this knowledge, gained in IPT (over the course of 2 years), from both theoretical and practical experience/aspects of a student's study regime.
The Preliminary course, while not being examined directly, will be assumed knowledge for the HSC itself.
Major aspects of an information system is to be studied. this can be best summarised via the Information Technology diagram.
