Combined Law @ USyd

But that was from 2 months ago when I didn't really think I had any chance of getting in. So now that I have -options- I'm faced with the annoying task of actually 'deciding'. What to combine with... and what to major in for that. Where to go... life would've been much easier had I received -just- the right UAI to get me into one thing I really liked with nothing else to distract me.

Yea i kno it's a huge decision i guess when u can do pretty much anything.

I would recommend doing whatever u're interested in... you don't have to do law just because it's the highest uai.
If you are set on law tho, i'd choose unsw over usyd.

Send emails to the various uni's asking them to send u out a bunch of info on each course, u only have till like jan 6th to choose but with enough info being as smart as i'm sure you are i bet u can come up with which course offers the best offer to you.

I really want to do law, not just because it's got the highest cutoff. I just hate being screwed over by the legal system and I like doing alot of reading - hey, I liked Legal, why not? :)

UNSW - I've always loved, because it just feels more friendly somehow. My school is just up the road from it, so I see all the UNSW buses passing by every day. Been kind of a dream to get into UNSW Law. But USyd... well people say it's closer for me to get to (possible 10-15 less). My parents say it's more internationally recognised, but I don't know if I'll ever feel the need to practice elsewhere, and has more ties to the profession. Lots of points to consider - most of the opinions are really hearsay, and most people here are only students (1st/2nd/3rd year) who have little experience of what employers think of the UNSW/USyd debate. :)

I've already collected as much info from them as I possibly could. I've looked through the Handbooks to check out the actual subjects. But it still comes down to me not really knowing for sure if I'd enjoy something or not. I could realistically see myself combining law with Commerce (Finance), or combining it with Economics (though I've heard this is quite different from high school economics), or Arts (Philosophy) or Science (Psychology). But there are cons to each that don't convince me 100%.

to get into med you need reasonably good marks in everything, academics;umat;interview

my only pref this year in newcastle med
The competition sucks tho, for tertiary entrance they only give out 30% of places available. ie about 20 places (even tho 2000 ppl apply each yr)
