i went to a lecture that was called' the purpose of life"
and "true sucess in life"
it was good...
is the purpose different to the meaning?
seems the same to me
but it was from a religous perspective..(islam)...

Why bother going to a religious thing on the meaning of your life when you already know what it's going to say? Probably told you to worship Allah, uphold the however many pillars of Islam and travel to Mekka, just as a Christian one would tell you to uphold the principles described in the Bible.

umm no..actually this was a stage in my life..say..3 years ago..when i wasnt religous and didnt know much about islam
and it was the best lecture i have ever been to..seriously i walked out there a new person
plus this girl from my skool was there and reverted..on the night along with 12 other ppl
neways..it was alot deeper then just worship allah..and go this and that..
and i have the lecture on c.d..its more of a reminder about life and why we are here and where we a re going
coz ppl get all wrapped up in this world and forget what the purpose of their life really is
they get wrapped up in cars money...material things..worshipping this world..etc

The meaning of life?

The meaning of life is such that it is individual and tailored to each person and their beleifs. I believe that the meaning of life is to live...of course I will elaborate. The meaning of life for me is to be happy within yourself. If you can achieve that inner calm and you are able to acknowledge that you are only human, and that you will make mistakes...but these mistakes will ultimately be positive, shaping you constantly into a better person. It is up to you how you live your life. But if you are generally positive (although it is impossible to be perfectly content ALL the time) then your "life" will be made more pleasent. Life is also there for learning, as much as we'd hate to think of it that way. If you learn how to love another person, if you learn how to forgive (both yourself and others), if you learn how to give and accept praise, and if you learn that each day has much to offer you...then you are doing pretty well, i would have to say.

Life must have meaning. But what it means depends on who you are. Everyone finds something that means a lot to them in their life. Once you have meaning in your life...you have found the meaning of life!

well what if i don't believe in heaven/hell or an afterlife? what if i see life simply as us, here, now, there's no bigger picture.
if i believe that when we die.. thats it, why shouldn't i try to have as much fun as i can?

yeah ok you can do that
its your life after all
i just dont like the idea of it
and you dont care if i like it or not
so my opinion isnt going to effect you and the desicions you make

but i dont like it..because as much as it is fun..its destructive
and not much of a "life"...at all
but u obviously see it a different way

i dont drink alcohol coz i think its wrong
and its bad for you and does more bad then good

and the stuff im against isnt getting drunk with friends..
that doenst happen every day
its not your main thrill goal and ahcievement in life
for some people it is

and i feel its a waste
