What is it called when.... (1 Viewer)

In an essay you have to use your texts throughout?
Like keep referring to both of them all the way through.
I keep thinking something like intertextuality or synchronising - but I know there's a better word to describe what it is when you refer to your texts throughout an essay!

Hope someone can find the word for me please!
