Hi everyone,

I know many of you are doing your AoS this term for Adv English, but I was curious as to what Shakespeare's you are doing/have done.

Year 9: Merchant of Venice (great teacher=good results)
Year 10: Macbeth (okay)
Year 11: Romeo and Juliet (play was alright, Shakespeare in Love was brilliant)
Year 12: Supposed to be As You Like It

Romeo and Juliet wasn't awful, but contrasting with Shakespeare in Love made a huge difference.

What have you people done?

Year 12: King Lear (hello summation of the existential crisis that is year 12)
Uni 1: Cymbeline (apparently strongest female character but not worth looking into)

Uni 3: Hamlet (fyeah david tennant version... conveniently available in full on youtube!), A Midsummer Nights' Dream (do like but so much PRANCING), As You Like It (love triangle quadrilaterial dondecahedron), Titus Andronicus (hated at first and made me do feminist rants every week, but realised I actually absolutely LOVE IT BEST SHAKESPEARE EVER), The Winter's Tale (weirdest ending ever and jk rowling totally stole the name hermione from here)

So so true about Bas Luhrmann's film killing the whole plot about Romeo and Juliet. I mean come on - Mercutio being a transvestite?
