Discuss.

David and Margaret agree with me.

I think the disparity between the reviews of the two films on sites such as rotten tomatoes, simply shows how strongly people are influenced by star power and hype.

It had a better plot. It was stunning. The pacing was better. It has some sweet moments, where Dark Knight never slowed the pace for a moment, in a long film when it really needed to.

This was a good movie. The realization of the alternate history setting was really well done and I liked the themes it dealt with.

Interesting to see how this is being widely promoted as a mainstream blockbuster, when it's pretty extreme in it's depictions of sex and violence. I found this more unsettling than wolf creek. It's pretty gory in parts.

That's cause you're a young chicka and this is an alternate history comic book film.

You're programmed contra to these things.

LOL perhaps. I expected something different from the trailers, posters and such. This has a much more meaningful message than i expected which isn't a bad thing, i was just looking for entertainment rather than confrontation.

Yeah, from reading the book and seeing the trailers/TV spots i thought this would be the reaction from a lot of people.

Tbh i think if you see the film, you should give the book a read. Best thing to do.

Started reasonably. But dragged on for way to long. The only thing which kept me awake were the special effects and the umm 10 sex scenes? Other then that the so called 'smartest guy in the world' was a nutjob. Dark Knight subdue's this movie, even without the ridiculous gore and over the top superhero costume crap.
The themes were mixed up badly and the characterization was quite vague; if you haven't read the comics you would not know much at all about their past other than their 'superhero' lives. Though, only paid 9 bucks to see it so i i'm not bothered

Gore?

Going to see it at imax tonight. Gore a hundred feet high.

Is it stylised gore at least, like say Sin City? That I can handle.

Noticed a couple of people turning away/covering their eyes at some points. It's not as over-the-top as Sin City, but still, kind of stylised. Close-up compound fractures ftw!

Yeah subdues is not the right word to use there.

I'll survive the gore I think.

Oh ffs. Watchmen had some of the worst dialogue and acting of any film in the past twelve months. Just because it also had some of the best scenes of any film in the last twelve months doesn't redeem it. Ugh and let's not start on the arbitrarily-placed music... :S

Edit: The only reason I don't hate it is because Roschach is a fucking cool character, and the actor who played him did an amazing job - better than anyone out of Dark Knight. That being said, as a whole, Dark Knight is obviously a better film.
