Hi,
My name is James Hu. I graduated from Fort Street High School in 2005 as the Dux with a 99.5 UAI, having studied 4U English, 3U maths, 3U History and Economics. I am now studying Commerce/Law at UNSW while working at a prestigious law firm and starting next year, at a venture capital firm.
I have been tutoring since the week after I finished my HSC until now. I have taught well over 100 students from schools ranging from James Ruse and Sydney Boys to MLC and Pymbles. For students in English and Economics, I specialise in:
- Helping already extremely talented and capable students with a strong grasp of english/economics and the syllabus content reach the next level by introducing high level concepts and strategies. i.e. I help you seperate yourself from other high-flyers.
- Helping students who are in the band 3/4 range achieve up to high band 5/low band 6. Many of my students in English and Eco who suffered from poor writing ability that hampered their marks have experienced a drastic and fundamental change in the style of their writing that meet the standards required at HSC level. My approach is very practical and is proven. For Economics, I will condense entire pages of content into core ideas and concepts that are easy to digest and understand for those who do not have a natural talent in the subject.
RE NEW ENGLISH AOS: I am an HSC English tutor. Not a Journeys AOS tutor. My knowledge and understanding is of the Area of Studies, whether it be journeys, identity, change, obsession, prejudice or as it is now: Belonging. I have taught all those AOS' i just listed and I already know Belonging back to front. It will be more challenging of course when we discuss your actual prescribed texts because I won't know them in absolute full detail. But i have encounted that problem for 3 years now because of the range of AOS' I teach for year 11 students and I can tell you it's not a problem.
Before 2008, I usually taught around 15-20 students a week and my ad would have been quite a fixture at BOS. This year, because of strong university and work commitments, I stopped taking in any new students and taught only my year 11 students from the year before.
However, as my commitments ease up over the next year, I am seeking a new group of students who need a little push to get them where they want to go academically.
Students who are not looking for a long term relationship are also welcome. I am quite good at giving crash courses and can summarise entire terms into a 2 hour lesson. (My best achievement was teaching the entire Economics syllabus to a friend in 3 hours the night before his final HSC exam. He did not know anything. He got 86 in the exam).
DETAILS:
Location: Burwood or City (to be arranged between me and you)
Rate: $50 and hour. $40 for a group of two. $30 for a group of three. No more than three for efficiency purposes.
CONTACTS:
Email: Legal_jameshu@hotmail.com
Phone: 0410 343 187
Note: Try to contact me on the above. I do not often come on BOS so any messages through BOS might be waiting for a while for an answer.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
James
