Hey guys. This is my first thread and post for this site. Anyways I was wondering if anybody is particularly interested in doing this course next year at UWS campbelltown campus. I hoping to do the course next year (just waiting for an offer). BTW I found this info on the net recently for this course.
"Another new degree starting in 2008 is Bachelor of Biomolecular Science– speakers were Dr Trevor Bailey (Assoc Head of School) and Dr Mary Campbell (Head of Program). It will only be offered at the Campbelltown campus and is a geared to twenty first century careers with Chemistry and Biology at molecular level. This degree is highly relevant to those interested in science and health. It has a common first year covering Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics with a variety of specialty speakers and researchers. Second and Third Year student elect to specialize in Human Molecular Biology (subjects include Proteins and Genes, Human Genetics, Human Metabolism and Disease, Human Molecular Biology, Molecular Biology of the Immune System, Cell Signalling, Molecular Basis of Disease) or Pharmaceutical Chemistry (subjects include Coordination Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biomolecular Dynamics, Reactivity and Synthesis, Drug design and Synthesis, Pharmacological Chemistry, Molecular Pharmacokinetics)
Essential knowledge for this degree is HSC Mathematics and Chemistry – desirable to have Biology and/or Physics. Careers for graduates with major in Human Molecular Biology will include research, diagnostics, teaching, industrial scientist, technical sales representatives, scientific information officers, scientific project officers and secondary science teachers. Careers for graduates with a major in Pharmaceutical Chemistry include manufacturing, food processing and cosmetics. There are post graduate masters available, eg Pharmacy, MSc (Biopharmaceuticals) MSc (Genetic Counselling), etc. This course involves 24 hours per week of lectures and practicals and expected UAI about 70.00. This could be an undergraduate degree for potential doctors and pharmacists”
