I'm having trouble deciding whether to do international studies at macquarie or UNSW. I've heard UNSW is the best for this course but i'm not sure, plus I didn't expect to get the marks so i've missed out on campus accomodation. On the other hand, at Macquarie I have accomodation, plus the shopping centre/ train station /on-campus gym is a plus. Could someone let me know if these courses/unis are any good?

Thanks.

Mac Uni Int Stud is pretty good, im in 2nd year and am on the semester abroad atm...they give you 4500 to go to Europe (cant remember the other countries) and what you do at uni subject wise has been pretty good so far.

But dont know anything about the UNSW course so it depends what you think would be better...the thing you need to remember about MQ is that it is only in its 3rd year at the moment...so they are still slowly working out tweaks (you have to do an internship 2nd semester 3rd year - which was the first time this semester jsut been and they were not very well organised, well they were but it was done very late and people didnt know where they were going to go for a while - - but hopefully it gets better)

Thanks heaps. Could you tell me what you're exchange is like? Are you just at a university in Germany, or is there more to it?

Also, when doing European Studies, can you also do an extra language apart from your major? And does it have to be a European language?

Lastly (hopefully) what type of internships are offered?

Thanks again.

im at a uni in germany and just studying subjects here...what else would i be doing? i dont get it...

i know someone that started out doing french and german but in the end dropped the german because it was 2 hard....... but yes u can do another language if ur doing it in euro studies u need to do one euro language as a 'major' BUT then if u want u can do another 2nd language from anywhere......

internships not entirely sure BUT they all have things that have to do with international stuff....including at the Macquarie abroad office, SBS, other random companies etc....

Had a friend who transferred from UNSW llb/international to the equivalent at MAC. its a 5 year degree here while its 6 at unsw.

i dont do any of the above course. however i can tell you Mac is a good uni: friendly people, decent facility, spacious unlike unsw.

The 'best' option is something you have to figure out for yourself.

just pick the course you want to do yourself - dont do one just so that you can transfer...

which ever course you think will be good and whichever you think will take you wherever you want to go...
