Blackboard is a new application used at UNSW to support online learning and teaching. It is being piloted in Semester 2, 2009 with 18 courses, in preperation for a full rollout in Semester 1, 2010.

Well, thoughts?

It's the system I used at Newcastle last year (I transferred to UNSW this year). I can't seem to log in, I guess because I'm not undertaking one of those particular 18 courses this semester.

All of these elearning applications tend to be very similar in my experience, although I certainly would appreciate a move away from the Java intensive WebCT Vista we have at the moment (which makes things like opening multiple tabs for elearning content a real pain in the ass). Not sure we're going to get it though.

I'm taking one of the courses which will trial Blackboard but I can't log in with my normal password and the Identity Manager site through which you create a zPass is currently giving me a proxy error.

So, current thoughts: fail.

Pilot courses according to a handout I recieved: ARCH1391, ARTS1190, ARTS1240, ARTS2631, ATAX0306, ATAX0406, BIOC2291, COFA1100, EDST4080, GBAT9109-1668, GBAT9109-1669, GSOE9410, HUMS1000, LAWS1011, MATH1131, MATS9520, MGMT1001, PHCM9082, SDSE9216, SDSE9217, SDSE9218.

lol I just logged into Blackboard. It's definitely different to what I experienced back at USYD where they also used Blackboard. UNSW's Blackboard has an "iPhone/Facebook Sync" option. So awesome! :rofl:
