...is meant to be really good. comes out today
No. The movie was made to be as close to the truth as possible.GoodToGo said:Is this a movie where they create a ficitional story on the fictional heroics of the passangers on that plane?
I guess there really aren't enough movies where Americans blow their own trumpet, so glad this one came along. USA, USA, USA!!!
Its the other shite one with Nick Cage, World Trade Centre or whatev that fits your descriptionwikipedia said:The film attempts to recount with as much veracity as possible (there is a disclaimer that some imagination had to be used).
Oh ok. I haven't seen it myself, but I've heard from a couple people that have seen it that the movie is a complete fantasy, and that the story often contradicts the few facts we do have about that plane.mr_brightside said:No. The movie was made to be as close to the truth as possible.
Apparently transcripts of phone calls and the like were used verbatim to the script where possible
Maybe I'm just cold-hearted, but unless you knew someone who died, I don't really get the whole outpouring of emotion over 9/11 by Aussies with no association with America. Especially while watching a scripted movie no less!bubz :D said:watched it tonight. was teary from the beginning when they were boarding the plane and bawling by the end. i actually found the repetition quite effective, and i agree, the ending was just... my god.
when the screen went black, the entire theatre was just dead silent. you could hear people breathing and me trying not to make the awful throaty noise that comes out involutarily when you're crying...

Many more die in tragedies around the world and we barely blink...and people starve to death on a daily basis in the third world. Mass media, sensationalism and melodrama certainly play a part no doubt. I guess I follow the adage that "one death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic".
GoodToGo said:But having said all that, I'm sure it'll be an entertaining movie and it's now on my TO SEE list after Snakes On a Plane.
Oh, so it's a bit like Titanic, eh?Tulipa said:you cannot watch those people on screen say goodbye and know they're about to die without feeling something. the simple fact that you're watching the whole movie *knowing* they're doomed just adds to this sadness surrounding it.
It's natural for people to feel more for similar people than those who appear different. Also, it's a movie, the entire experience is designed to play on people's emotions, it's upsetting to watch a movie documenting the life/death of a single person. We cry at our grannys funeral, we might cry when our dog dies, we might get upset upon seeing a random stranger get hit by a car and die.Maybe I'm just cold-hearted, but unless you knew someone who died, I don't really get the whole outpouring of emotion over 9/11 by Aussies with no association with America.
