Can someone please tell me the differences between a B Business degree at UTS for instance and a B Commerce degree at say like USYD, UNSW, mq uni etc?? Say if I was to major in finance, would ie be different for either one? Thanks :p

Really now, B Business and B Commerce are pretty much interchangeable words.

Should not make a difference to an employer as all the unis offer mostly the same majors with both anyway! (Ie. Majors of Accounting, Finance, Marketing, HR etc.)

I don't know exactly for NSW but in Victoria the key difference is commerce degrees generally require maths methods or specialist (the middle maths or hardest), whereas business degrees have further (lower maths) as a requirement. Other than that I'd say the content is pretty much the same.

So say if I did a B Business degree at UTS, and I chose Finance as my major, would it be the same as doing B Commerce (Finance) at USYD, UNSW, Mq uni etc. Hence, if I wanted to pursue a career in Banking/Finance/Investment, would a business degree with major in Finance be applicable?

There is only a difference if the uni offers commerce and business. If the uni only offers a B Business it is equivalent to a B Comm.

So basically B Business (Finance) e.g. UTS and B Commerce (Finance) e.g. UNSW are the same yeh?

Well they are not identical, but neither is B Commerce at UNSW and Usyd.

Idk, I havent looked at it in detail. But there will be differences in the course program, differences in the subjects and more. It's not like school where each school follows a single curriculum. I know for finance, UNSW is not a CFA partner but UTS and Usyd are (and Macq, but a quick google search suggests just for post grad). Being a CFA partner means at least 70% of the CFA content is covered in a finance major at that uni. It could mean UNSW doesn't cover the 70%, or it could mean they either can't be bothered applying or maybe they haven't been approved yet. It could even be down to politics.

There are overlaps with business and commerce degrees in relation to the subjects and content covered, but I would be more inclined to think that commerce is more finance related.

Whilst the courses and majors may have the same names, each university teaches to their own curriculum and the only thing which keeps them remotely in line is the post graduate qualifications which mandate some of the content in order to be eligible (e.g. CA, CFA, etc). The other thing which can't be underestimated is the goodwill in the name of an educational institution (aka the perception of the brand) and what it means.
