Hey guys,
I just received my atar and it isnt enough to make it to actuarial studies at UNSW or macq. I am thinking of doing comm/is for first year and internally transfer. One of the requirement is to achieve a minimum of 80 wam in my maths courses (which is at least 2) over a year, but my course doesn't offer maths courses. Is it possible to take the two maths courses as free electives?
Also which maths courses are relative easy to get high marks if more effort is put in?

Thanks guys

I think you should do commerce/science as you are allowed to substitute the first year commerce math courses for actual ones (i.e math1151) then you can get 80 wam and transfer while getting credit

Why are you doing Comm/IS? Do Comm/Science or Comm/Sci(adv. maths) to satisfy the requirement of 80 WAM in at least 2 maths courses.

N/A
1) You can transfer by doing just commerce, only you need to do 2 math courses (which can count as gen ed courses).

2a) You could do a combined degree commerce/science and do the math courses as part of your science degree.
http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/programs/2015/3529.html
2b) You could do a combined degree commerce/science (Adv Math) and do the math courses as part of your science degree.
http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/programs/2015/3523.html
2c) You could do a combined degree commerce/science (Adv Science) and do the math courses as part of your science degree.
http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/programs/2015/3566.html

3) You could do a combined degree commerce/economics and do the math courses as part of your economics degree.
See the handbook: http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/programs/2015/3521.html
e.g. you can do MATH1131/MATH1231 or MATH1141/MATH1241 or MATH1151/MATH1251 as substitute for the core courses ECON1202 and ECON1203 in the degree and meet the requirements for internal program transfer.

At MQ all you need is a credit average and to have done Stat171 to transfer into Actuarial...
